Saltram House, Devon.

Advantages: Lovely parkland and gardens, house.
Disadvantages: None.

I live fairly close to Saltram House which is a property owned by the National Trust. It is great being so near as it is possible to visit fairly frequently for a short period, or spend longer depending on mood. The house is impressive, the gardens are beautiful and there are lots of walks around the grounds. Location Saltram is situated in Plympton which is in Devon. It is high above the River Plym, surrounded by woodland. The address is Saltram, Plympton, Plymouth, Devon, PL7 1UH. I would use a route planner if unfamiliar with the area as it is not on a main route. It is not far from Plymouth itself though being just on the outskirts, it is 3 and a half miles East of Plymouth City Centre. The entrance is in Plympton and there are brown National Trust signs as a guide and the entrance has magnificent pillars. Parking ...

Plymouth Copthore Hotel

Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: More of a Good 3* Hotel than a 4* Hotel.

I have mixed views on the Plymouth Copthorne Hotel. I have stayed here numerous times, and have experienced a variety of services from "average" to "good". Official details about the hotel (and booking rates) can be found here: http://www.benbow.org.uk/CopthornePlymouth.htm First of all, I have never had a "bad" experience in the Copthorne. There have been times where an issue arose, but this was then sorted out by the front desk staff. Saying that, the issue shouldn't have arisen in the first place. Pro's : Great Location in the center of Plymouth. If you are travelling by train, it is a 3 minute walk away from the station (or a really cheap taxi ride!). The prices - especially for weekend deals - can be competative compared to other hotels / B&B's in the area. They have parking under the hotel for hotel guests ...

Alton House Hotel

Advantages: Posh hotel, it looks nice, but...
Disadvantages: The staff

I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better. So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. Not a hotel. Rich people used to live in this house. It was only in the 1940's that ...
