I initially considered Oz Experience as the company to provide my travel pass because their brightly colored leaflets complete with green buses caught my eye in a local Travel Agency and not because I had heard of them! I am so pleased that I picked up the leaflet and found out more from their web site.
Oz Experience provide so much more than just a coach pass. They are brilliant at taking you to places off the beaten track where the majority of tourists just don?t go and really give you a taste of the true Australia. They offer you the opportunity to join in with all sorts of activities and with no pressure at all.
I chose the Bruce Pass, a one way Sydney to Cairns pass valid for 6 months. There are more than 20 passes to choose from covering all areas of Australia with names such as Dunny Door and Fair Dinkum. They also provide good value day trips.
During my trip I went wine tasting in the Hunter Valley, spent two days at a working cattle range where I tried my hand at sheep shearing and swam with horses - all arranged by Oz Experience. I also experienced Tamworth the Country Capital of Australia complete with giant golden guitar statue, took surfing lessons and became a bush walking expert. The buses do of course stop at all major towns and cities along the way such as Noosa, Brisbane and Airlie Beach.
I met many fun people from all over the world on the buses. The passes are flexible meaning that you can hop on and off when it suits you and you often see familiar faces on the bus along the way. The Oz experience guides recommend safe and reasonably priced hostels and phone ahead and make the bookings for you if required. The bus will drop you and pick you back up from the hostel door.
The drivers and guides go out of their way to keep you entertained en route - I have fond memories of group mooning at passing vehicles, races around the bus with forfeits for the loser such as jumping jacks and playing the didgeridoo. They even allow you to sleep sometimes! As a lone female backpacker Oz Experience really made my trip a safe and unforgettable experience. The drivers and guides are very knowledgeable and clearly love their job. I so appreciate them not trying to force the not so brave on board (me included) to do a bungee jump at Cairns! They were very happy to provide information on barrier reef and outback trips even if you chose to take the trip with a different travel company.
Oz Experiences are a little more expensive than Greyhound and McAffertys but with all that they offer they are well worth it. If I ever get the opportunity to spend time in New Zealand I will certainly consider Kiwi Experience, their sister company.

I am intrigued with your review – my husband has relatives in Australia – As a "physically challenged" person – I'd like to know a bit more about how they cater for disabilities – many of the activities you mention would be beyond my capabilities, I imagine. You say it's more expensive than Greyhound but you do not even give comparison ranges – these would help me more to make an "informed purchasing decision" – and what do the prices include / exclude? ~~~~{:-)-{{:::::|||||<
