Little known airport for alps

Advantages: Alternative and cheap access to eastern Austrian skiing and beautiful Slovenia
Disadvantages: Very small with sometimes awkward connections into town

...spent a year living in Klagenfurt so used this airport a lot then to get home to the UK for Christmas birthdays etc. Back then there were only flights to Vienna or Zurich, leaving me with another two flights to get to my home in Manchester. This 6 flight round-trip wasn't cheap. However, Ryanair now fly there daily from London Stansted for anything from about 99p up to around £89.99 at the most (each way). ...and easy to drive. Klagenfurt itself is a pleasant enough town, although there's not much to do here. There is a lake on the edge of town though, which is nice, especially in summer. There's also lots of cycling and walking to be done in the region which is little visited by british tourists. On arrival back at the airport, the car-hire / weather / plane traffic controller was also checking travellers in, so again he was abusy guy, but at least ...
