Advantages: Great slopes, great views Disadvantages: Can be pricey
Davos may be best known for the trade conference with Bill Gates, Clinton, etc. But it is also one of my favourite snowboarding resorts in Switzerland. So much so, that I have been there about 15 times.
The slopes are suitable for everyone from beginner to very advanced. There is usually good opportunity for powder snow, just off the pisted slopes. If you want, you can ski all the way down to Klosters and then catch a free bus or train back.
Good, reasonably priced restaurants on the slopes.
Good nightlife and restaurants in town, although some can be rather expensive.
Just make sure you don't miss the last gondola back from the bottom of the long red run... it's a long way back to Davos if you do! ...

...'disturbing' to say the least and this is wonderfully portrayed here by the assembled cast.
The cinematography is excellent from the extremely talented Tonio Delli Colli who gives the movie a superb dark, brooding feel in every shot, aided of course by the setting in the 12th century monastery at Kloster Eberbach. It seems that Baskerville has his work cut out in trying to investigate here because every single one of the monks is hiding one foul secret or another.
In short, I love it, and I think if you give it a chance you will too. Its very slow moving in parts, but the the visuals alone kept me intrigued during the 'dull' bits. Obviously I do not expect it to be to everyone's taste. There is no 'action' here as ...
Advantages: Exciting and moving performance, fine singers, orchestra and conductor Disadvantages: None really
accustomed to the sound of an English boys' cathedral choir, then the sound of the Toelzerknabenchor will be a huge surprise. It is far less "angelic" than the Engish style of singing, with much more "bottom" to the sound, from the use of more chest voice rather than head voice. The boys have incredible dynamic control so when they sing quietly, one still hears the quality of the sound. Perhaps the most noticeable aspect is also their perfect intonation and diction, every word is clearly heard, even in complex ensemble passages.
This CD was prepared by concerts at the "Klang und Raum" (Sound and Space) festival in Kloster Irsee in Bavaria - http://www.musikfestival-irsee.de/ and then was recorded in the choir's base of a church in Bad Toelz. I have to admit at this point that I was fortunate enough to attend the rehearsals and concerts ...
