Knights Inn Charlotte Airport, Charlotte

Advantages: cheap, good breakfast, friendly staff
Disadvantages: far from centre, bugs!

...Where should I start? Which problem should I tell you about first? We stayed in Quality Inn, Charlotte during October 2007. The chain is well known for it's luxury and good srvice, so we were looking forward to a quiet week of relaxation after a month of busy traveling. When we got a taxi from the train station to the hotel, we suddenly realised how far from the city centre this hotel was, despite advertising that it was central and had easy access to the centre of Charlotte. It cost a $20+ taxi ride to reach the hotel, which was situated in a small business park on the outskirts of the city centre. (The only saving grace we found was a delightful Chili's restaurant that served delicious cheap food and had friendly waiting staff.) ...Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow Airport. Me and my girlfriend booked this hotel 3 weeks before hand and got a great rate of £55 for one night including full breakfast.We got the free airport bus from buchan bus station which takes to outside the main terminal at the airport .When we arrived we were amazed at how close it was actually to the main terminal of Glasgow Airport less than 2 minutes which was very handy for our morning departure.We checked in around 1630 and were told in detail the facility's , restaurant opening times , breakfast times and all check out details by two friendly staff receptionists one lady also helped us with the masses of luggage we had to the room. We were surprised with the quality of the hotel with it just being a budget hotel the entrance to the hotel resembles the same look in decor as any 4 or 5 star... Read review

I have myself stayed at five of the HI Group's hotels, and have spend a total of around 25 nights there: ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, New York JFK Airport ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Warsaw ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Paris CDG Airport ~ Holiday Inn Hotel, Istanbul ~ Holiday Inn Crown Plaza, Istanbul In order to stay within the right category, I will only discuss my experiences with the classic Holiday Inn Hotels - and there the picture is very doom. At first sight, HIs often appear to be the cheapest international business hotels in the city, boasting themselves with five big stars... Read review
