I have visited theKombo on many occasions. It is situated on the beach and next to a small market. Nearby are several restaurants and other hotels. The staff there are friendly and do their best for you. The pool is great and kept very clean. However, the safes are expensive and on several occasions guests have had small amounts of money mysteriously vanish. The food overall is very good and a reasonable variety although cleanliness is sometimes an issue, as are the amount of ants which constantly busy themselves around the sweet table. Tours can be expensive and if you've been out before it can be much cheaper to go on your own, especially to the monkey park which is a great deal of fun. Be careful NOT to have ice in any of your drinks, wash any fruit that you may buy and wash your hands after dealing with the paper money. It's advisable to take along several cans of DEET insect repellent as this is an area of HIGH malaria outbreaks. There are several different activities to do at the Kombo, table football, water Polo, Quizzes, tours are easy to book through your rep, exchanging money there is expensive though, best to go to the Senegambia strip for a good deal. Entertainment is varied and repeated every week without change, so if you go for two weeks you get to see your favourite show twice. The hotel does not pay the entertainers so you will have to donate something for their time and effort. Remember, you're not in England, so don't look for a fish and chip bar and a pub - or even the famous Mac Donalds - there aren't any.
