Hi everyone,
Today I will tell you about my country and one of its amazing towns.
When coming to Bulgaria, you step into another world, another time, and another culture. You will find friendly faces, a sense of history and tradition; enchanting landscapes are at every turn. Our vast sandy beaches, magnificent mountains, charming countryside with wonderful glades, forests and caves, impressive landscapes make Bulgaria a tourist destination worth to be experienced. The country has 36 cultural reserves, 160 monasteries, and some 40,000 monuments of culture, 7 of which are on UNESCO's world cultural heritage list.
But one of the things we are the most proud of is our folklore, which has survived all challenges of history and social development as an expression of the nation's spirit and destiny. Festival days, traditional fairs and folklore music are inseparable part of Bulgaria and giving the visitor an exciting experience and unforgettable memories. When coming to Bulgaria you should certainly attend one of the numerous Bulgarian folk fairs, singing contests or authentic folklore festivals.
One of the best festivals - Great Koprivshtitsa Folklore Fest in August, is in one of the most charming small Bulgarian towns, still preserving the atmosphere of the National Revival period. It is huddled in the mountain folds 111 km east of Sofia. The town is a unique combination of a legendary history and fascinating present. The name of it is Koprivshtitsa. The first thing you will learn when you get there is that it was here the first bullet of the April Uprising against the Ottoman oppressors was fired in 1876. That’s why the town is a symbol for the freedom gained after hundreds of years of Turkish occupation.
No other Bulgarian museum town boasts such a large number of houses and monuments - 383 in all, most of which have been restored to their original appearance. Its half-timbered houses are breath taking and a great opportunity for wannabe photographers.
A unique collection of ethnographical treasures, old weapons, National Revival works of art, household weaves and embroidery, national costumes and typical Bulgarian jewelry has also been preserved.
The town is a key point for hiking and sightseeing in the highest part of Sredna Gora or "Central Highlands" as we call it. The best place to stay are the small family hotels and being in Bulgaria you should certainly try the typical Bulgarian dishes with their exotic taste and unusual names along with the famous Bulgarian wine.
The best way to travel is to rent a car, which in Bulgaria is not as expensive as it is in the UK. Actually everything there is very cheap – accommodation, food, drinks, transport, and etc. Thinking about your next holiday?!?!=)))
Well, I hope you like the story and maybe I managed to convince you what amazing country is Bulgaria!!!!!!Having questions? Just ask…
