We stayed in Kardamena. In short, it was the best holiday we've ever had! We booked it through Co-Op Travelcare and paid £270 each (inc insurance). The tour operator was Kosmar and we stayed at the Cleopatra Apartments.
Kardamena is a lovely resort. It has a good mixture of everything, restaurants, sports, bars, clubs (only a few and they have to shut their doors at 12.00am to keep music noise in!) and almost guaranteed weather.
My partner and I enjoyed our fortnight in Kos so much that we have booked to go back this May to the same apartment with some friends!
We found an excellent curry house whilst out there, I think it was called The Taj Mahal, the dishes were very authentic and we ate there on around 6 days of our 2 week hol!! (we do like curries, you see...)
The local restaurants were all good too, we tried around 5 others, but found a favourite called Ariandi which we went to a few times. Nice big steaks and top service.
Beer prices are good in Greece, around 650 drachma for a large local beer. Expect to pay more for imported beers.
Local wine is very cheap too, but quality did vary widely from very nice to dire! Find one you like and stick to it.
I recommend the Cleopatra Hotel and Apartment complex. The apartments are small but very clean. They have a huge fan in the ceiling and mosquito screen on the door. Very useful for those summer evenings! The pool bar is great and all the staff are very friendly. Jimmy, the manager likes to give free drinks at night too, in the hotel bar.
Kardamena has a few net cafes which is good for the net addict! I must admit I did spend a few (only a few, mind!) hours in the net cafe when the afternoon sun became too hot for me. I get "prickly heat" sometimes and have to get out of the sun to cool off.
Look out for the "cinema bars". We found two of these, they are basically large bars, but with a widescreen TV and a dvd player showing latest film releases. A good way to relax at the end of the day, before going out for the night.
One final point to note. If you fly with Kosmar the flights tend to be night flights. The only bad thing is the return journey when the coach picks you up at 2am. Still a small price to pay for a perfect holiday.
So, in Kos we had a divine time, and look forward to May 2001 when we go again!

Stayed in Georges apartments in 2001, we absolutely loved this holiday and thought it was beautiful. We saw lots of different fish when snorkelling! Maybe a bit more on restaurants/bars would be good because there's so much there. Also there are a few typos in here. But a good detailed op! Cabron xx
