Well, I have just returned from the Greek Island of Kos yesterday.
It was the first time that myself, my boyfriend and two other friends had ever been to any of the Greek Islands. All new to us....
We flew from London Gatwick to Kos and stayed in the resort of Kardamena with Kosmar. We stayed in the Tonys 2 apartments and studios which were in a good location just a few minutes walk away from the town centre, shops etc.
The main square in Kardamena has plenty of bars to choose from and the range of resturants and bars varies so there really is something for everyone.
The beach can get very crowded so if you don't mind a little walk the further you walk the more room you have and the beachs are very clean and nice and the water is gorgeous.
One resurant in Kardamena which I would reccomend (serves all kinds of food but especially for the Greek menu) would be a resturant called 'Avil' it has a perfect setting and great atmosphere (and a good range of menu) and very good value
for money.
There are plenty of bars and resturants which serve snacks also throughout the day if you feel peckish. By night the seafront area comes alive with its bars and lively music (there are also quiter bars for families as well) a good lively bar which we enjoyed which also had good offers on drinks (two for one etc) was Crackers bar along the seafront. (For example two bottles of reef for 3 euros (aprox £3.00) There are 4 night clubs in Kardamena, Flamingos, Sugar, Starlight and Status. We went to status and they played mainly R&B music so I would reccomend to find out which clubs have what music on on certain nights to make sure you get the type of music you like. The music in the bars have to be turned off at midnight but all bars still stay open until the early hours if you want it.
If you want trips out for the day and don't book through your rep there are a lot of places with good offers on boat trips and excursions. Trips include a trip to Nisyross to an active volcano, bubble beach, a trip to Turkey etc!
There is bank near the town square with a cash machine and plenty of places to exchange money (I reccomend Lukas, very friendly service) there are also plenty of mini markets around but the best (and biggest) was Louis supermarket (it is quite hard to miss) where you can pick up anything you need if you are in self catering accomodation.
We hired bikes on one day for 4 euros each (less than £3.00 for the day)and cycled to the next resort but take care if you do this because they seem to drive a bit mad abroad.
If you like shopping there are a few clothes and shoe shops in Kardamena and as always in these types of places plenty of shops to buy presents and gifts. If you need them there are a couple of 24 hour kiosks about the resort. One shop to look at would be the shop which sells sponges and nothing else (sorry I don't remember the name but it was the only shop filled with sponges) these are got from the sea and are lovely and the guy who owns the shop is brilliant and was telling us all about how they go and get the sponges. It may sound silly but it is quite fasinating.
Kardamena is a lively resort with plenty of people drinking and clubbing but I think it is also a nice place for families to come (though I would reccomend families to check out their hotel first - there was a family in our hotel with three children and the rest of the apartments were younger people who made a lot of noise sometimes in the early hours)there are also plenty of bars which are quiter and steer away from the clubbers.
The Greeks are very hospitible and were very helpful and so polite (more than I can say for some other countrys which we have visited) nothing seems too much trouble and that was the first thing that I noticed about the Greeks.
If you have never tried their food, give it a go, it is fab and again at very resasonable prices (ranging from 7-10 euros - which in pounds is max £6)
If you like waterparks Kos now has one it is called 'Shape' and was 13 euros if I rembember correctly. It is new and still fairly small but not over crowded which was nice. There are plenty of sunbeds (which are free) and a large swimming pool, a pool for the children, a pool where you sit in a ring and float around and numerous slides. You can hire lockers at the waterpark to put your valubles in which was 6 euros which was good if you are all in the water and have no one to look after the bags etc. There is a snack bar (you are not allowed to take your own food or drink in) which I didn't think was very nice for the money so I would reccomend having a little something to eat before going. There is a bar and a couple of small stands and a shop selling drinks, crisps etc. Generally a good day.
Couple of things which we found out when we got to Kos was one, your not suppose to put any waste paper down the toilets (I know this is not what you want to read but we didn't know this until we got there!) and two, most hotels / apartments the water is heated by solar power so if you leave it until 6.30-7pm you may be lucky to have a little luke warm water left, otherwise it's cold water (same obviously for first thing in the morning!) so we found it better to shower before 6pm.
Warning for the flight home. Before going to the airport go to the toilet before you go. I learn't my lesson from this. I needed to go badly but you have to que outside (yes outside!!) to put your cases through the scanners which you again pick up and then go and check in. We were lucky and only had to wait 40 minutes to get through but in that time numerous other coaches turned up and I wouldn't like to say how long they had to wait! After check in we went through passport control and into the departure lounge. There is not much to do if you get delayed (one shop which sells perfumes etc, two little cafes and a shop selling all the normal toblarone bars and booze) if the airport is busy you may be lucky if you get a seat and if you do they are not very comfortable. I had heard the airport was a bit small and you had to que but I wasn't expecting that.
We only mainly saw Kardamena but what I saw of the island it was a lovely island and would re visit.

We had a good time visiting Kardamena watching the grand prix and some Friends in the TV bars, which we didn't have in Kefalos! Sharron xxx

Ta for reading my op on the razor Mach3. I know that it isn't the perfect product op, so your rating is OK. I was more interested in the story than in describing the product proper. Cheers, Malu

Advantages: breeze keeps you cool, you don't notice the intense heat Disadvantages: watch you don't burn, the wind is deceptive: use you sun cream more often. IT IS HOT in KOS
