Me and my boyfriend went to Kefalos in Kos this year on our first holiday together. It took us a while to decide if this was where we wanted to go but for the price we couldn't refuse. We paid £179.00 each for a week self catering. We stayed at Kefalos Studios. Our Apartment was very basic, had a shower room, 2 single beds, kitchen and a balcony. Basic but nice. The only disadvantage here was that there wasn't a pool with the apartment but we only had to walk a few yards to use the public swimming pool which was very clean. By the pool there was also a 24 hour supermarket which was very handy (especially for my boyfriend who got up late one night and decided he wanted a packet of Haribo!!!!!!). We spent most of our time on the beach. The sand was way too hot to lie on and the sun was very hot so I would definetly advise you to hire a sun lounger for the day and they're only 5 euros so you can't complain, well except we were conned one day by a greek woman who charged us 6 euros for crap sun loungers! There are numerous watersports on Kefalos beach. Me and my boyfriend went on the jet skis twice. you have to try them, there is nothing like them in the world. You were also allowed to go as far as you wanted with them within reason. They cost 25 euros but we went together so that was 12.50 euros each which is very reasonable for jet skis. We also hired out pedalos twice and this is very good when you buy kiddies snorkles for 5 euros from the supermarket and go snorkelling out to sea. There aren't many colourful fish about in Kefalos but you will catch a glipse of a few fish. We also went on the banana boat which was great fun and that cost 7 euros each so not too bad. One thing I didn't very much like about Kefalos beach was that it was very pebbly but that is a very slite disadvantage. Some shops offered you the chance to visit other beaches but we were told by a local that they were usually very crowded and that Kefalos beach was nicest so we didn't bother. It was very windy in Kefalos but this didn't spoil the holiday at all, it actually made it a little cooler with the weather. There wasn't a bank machine in Kefalos so we had to walk a mile up hill to get to the nearest one which was a killer! never again I said except when i needed more money by the end of the holiday! We eat out every day and night in Kefalos and the prices for food was very good. You could get a 3 course meal for under £15.00 and the food was gorgeaus. If you do go do try Sebastiens, Scorpions and the Aussi Barbeque. Out of this world and huge portions. We did want to go clubbing one night so decided to go to Popeys which is the one of the only clubs in kefalos but it turned out to be more of a youth centre than a club so no luck there but there were a few karaoke nights. The only thing I didn't like about the holiday was the local shop owners. They didn't seem to have any interest and didn't really want your custom but this is hardly anything. Another disadvantage is Cats, stray cats everywhere. And in the day time they would mew around you while you're eating and this I really don't like. It is very likely that Kefalos will be the next Ibiza soon as buildings were being put up and clubs. This is a shame as it was a very lovely quiet holiday. There is something for everyone in Kefalos but it might be too quiet for the clubbers and children. You will find it easy to hire a car or scooter here as they're everywhere. We didn't hire so I can't tell you how much this is and the reason we didn't hire was because they do drive like maniacs in Greece even 14 yr old boys racing on their scooters so do beware of this if you are going to greece. My boyfriend did get up very early one morning to go to the ancient market but I wanted a lie in! He said it was nice and this would be ideal for the historians among us. There he also saw lizards.
Overall this was a brilliant holiday and I would definetly go again. Thank you for reading CJ

Sounds like a lovely place. I've had an interest for Greece ever since the olympics, and i've even mastered a bit of Greek - it's just choosing which bits of Greece to go to first really. Will most probably add this place to my list. Great review

I went to Malai in June and had a great time, but the scooters and quads are crazy!

It sounds like a really nice place! We considered going here this year on holiday but decided on Tenerife instead, Jess x

Advantages: Good weather. Plenty of good beaches. Small enough to explore. Friendly locals. ferries available for 'Island Hopping' Disadvantages: Nightmare Airport. Queues are the norm even for night flights. High season main beaches get very crowded. Limited cuisine. Not for those seeking 4 /5 Star Hotel standards
