Sophia Beach Hotel/Apartments - Kos town

Advantages: within 1.5 km of Kos Town, quiet, plenty of sunbeds as a lack of guests.
Disadvantages: rude staff, dirty/filthy rooms, poor A/C, poor plumbing

Was in this hotel in August 2007. From the word go we were disappointed. On arrival at 3 am the temperature in the room was about 30 degrees. After a week there it broke down completely, taking 2 days of constant complaining before they would call out an engineer. After he left it still was rubbish. The fridge door was rusty, all the shelves were broken, and the freezer section resembled Siberia, with ice of over 3" thick. Maid service was poor, ...
...floors were washed, the bathroom was never cleaned, had black fungus on the walls, and ceiling. Shower was also black, and the dirt on the shower hose about 10 mm thick. It was so bad my 8 year old refused to use it. Beds were comfy enough, although sheets were often ripped, and only changed once a week, despite notice promising every 3 days. Kefalos and the Pantheon, just heaven.

Advantages: Up the hill and very quiet.
Disadvantages: None that we could find

...were booked into the Hotel Pantheon in Kefalos,. We arrived at 4-00am in the heat of 23 degrees to be shown to our rooms by Manos. Bed was the greatest need at that time so off to sleep we went. We woke up some time later to the view that you see attached. The Pantheon is run by Manos and Janet, husband and wife and Babbis and Maria his brother and sister in law. ...is a little steep to walk, but you can manage if you take your time. I add that there are no taxi's in the resort, but Manos and Babas drive a 16 seater mini bus that take you down to the resort 6 times a day. 10-00am, 1-30pm, 6-00pm, 8-00pm, 10-00pm and last pick up drop off 10-30pm. Hotel Zeus - Perfect

Advantages: Excellent location, Very welcoming!
Disadvantages: Bathrooms a little cramped but this is common place in Greek hotels

...return. We stayed at the Zeus and will be doing so again in October. ROOMS The rooms are spotlessly clean with a large balcony or terrace (we had a terrace). On the website it does mention that some rooms are "semi-basement" we had one of these and it just meant that the wall of our terrace was only slightly higher than ground level. Wonderful hotel, Well run, comfortable and a great atmosphere.

...stayed in Tigaki at the Fili apartments. The first thing to notice about the hotel is that its situated a little outside where all the bars, shops and restaurants are. However its only a 10-15 minute walk. The hotel is situated right near the beach which provides stunning views. When we arrived we were pleased to find the hotel was very nice. The management were very helpful and the bar/restaurant was very clean and presentable which at night provided ...
...but you get what you pay for. A fridge and kettle are provided and the rooms are always kept tidy. We had a sea view which was very refreshing. All in all the room was very basic but easily provides a comfortable resting place when returning from a day out. Resort Brilliant, Rooms Grotty and Basic

Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: Very Basic

The location of this hotel is brilliant as it is right by the main bars but just enough out the way for you not to be kept awake at night if you wanted a quiet night in! However the hotel was something different. The bathroom in the room was absolutely vile! it was dark brown tiles everywhere and the shower constantly got blocked and flooded the bathroom and towels were only changed every other day. The bedrooms did have air conditioning which actually worked which was good but they were carpeted so was difficult to clean up anything when you spilt something. Another bad factor was that doors slammed loadly so you often got woken up hearing the drunk come home at early hours in the morning.
