When I think to the Kota Radja, I always think to something red and this isn't completely a wrong idea, because the restaurant seems to be completely red.
Of course the furniture isn't red, but there is a lot of red in the fittings of this restaurant.
The fitting out is a bit exaggerate, too much Chinese things: pictures, lamps, the manufacture of tables in itself that give the idea of a cheap reastaurant, a place of really a little value.
Nothing should be more wrong, than this idea: this
restaurant is the best Chinese restaurant in Milan, one of the most ancient and the only Chinese restaurant that have had a good evaluation on the
'Micheline Guide' of Italy.
The cuisine is that of Canton and the restaurant offers a various choice of delicate dishes flavoured with gentle sausages.
The dishes that you can find in this particurar restaurant aren't usually available in other Chinese restaurants. They offer a choice of fixed menus, just to taste their cuisine.
Something really special is the so called 'Chinese menu': if you ask this menu, they will serve you an incredible number of different dishes (more then 20) in a sequence that only a Chinese should perhaps understand!
The restaurant is in Baracca square, near the centre of Milan, at the really end of Magenta main street, the street where you can find the church with 'The last dinner' (how do you call it?) of Leonardo Da Vinci.
As for all the most famous restaurants in Milan, if you want to go there in the evening the booking is an obligation, while for the mid lunch you can try to find a place without booking.
In this part of the town find a parkplace is quite simple, but you can in any case go to the restaurant with the first/red line of the underground, the stop is called Conciliazione. When you came out of the underground station you'll find in a great square, the restaurant faces the square.
And now the bad news: this restaurant is probably the most expensive Chinese restaurant in Milan (not so expensive as an Italian restaurant in any case), and the price for a lunch is around 30.00/40.00 Euros, but it depends a lot from what you choice to drink: as ever wine's prices are incredibly high.
In any case you have the possibility to drink chinese or German beer, or Chinese tea: in fact they offer a choice of different type of chinese teas.
They also have a various choice of Chinese liqueurs, expecially among liqueurs flavoured with flowers.
