A Very Greek Drama amidst the Roman Ruins

Advantages: Beautiful Views. Well preserved mosaics.
Disadvantages: Physically demanding. Needs a decent time investment to explore fully.

...the archaeological site of Ancient Kourion (or Curium in Latin), which is well known for its amphitheatre, beautiful views, and well preserved floor mosaics.

'''GETTING THERE'''

The site is closest to the town of Episkopi, about 15km west of Limassol on the Akrotiri peninsula. Episkopi is clearly signposted from the main Limassol to Paphos motorway, and once you get to the town, simply follow the brown heritage ...
...down the coast to Limassol. Kourion is the best place for paragliding on the island, and its easy to lose time following the hypnotic dance of various multi-coloured kites and gliders as they carry their pilots across the wipe-tipped surf. The mosaics themselves are impressive and well preserved. There are strategically placed information plaques explaining their content and relevance in both Greek and English and I took my time reading them and ... more

Curium, a journey back into Roman times.

Advantages: Probably an experience you won't forget.
Disadvantages: None unless you cannot walk, so bring your scooter.

CURIUM ( or as it is sometimes known ). KOURIAN. (modern version) The town of Curium lies in the southern most point of Cyprus. Just west of Akritiri where the United Nations Forces are based. We have visited here twice, and will definately been visiting again. Why you might ask? Well the experience is nothing like anything else I have seen before. The emotional stirrings rising from within, indicated the enormity of the history of our planet. This ...
...lifetime. HOW TO GET THERE. We often holiday in Paphos, as this is one of our favourite places on the island. From Paphos you must head south towards Paphos airport, travelling along the coastal road. The scenery is much nicer, and more interesting than the motorway, that has just opened. After passing through the town of Gerieskipou one of the first places you will come to is Pissouri, a gorgeous little town built in the hills just up from the ...

Curium

Advantages: Nice beach, views and countryside
Disadvantages: Not much for a more active party person

I have been to Curium beach many times and i shall be going many more. its is a very nice place to go it has many places to eat along the beach which are all tasty and value for money. The beach has a wide variety of sand n stones so its good for children and those who don't like sand. Life guards are present most of the time on the beach. the view is amazing around the area as it is the liffs and mountain tops. The area Curium itself is easy to ...

A City with a Beach

Advantages: Good touring base, plenty to do
Disadvantages: Busy town with heavy traffic

. **Kolossi Castle** This medieval castle is a stark, square stone lump sitting on some fairly barren ground about 8 miles west of Limassol. I looked around it but there wasn't much to see inside. It was worth the climb up the narrow staircase to the top for the panoramic views of the countryside and coast though. There was a stall selling drinks and snacks near the entrance. **Kourion** Travelling west on the Pafos road from Limassol and just slightly further than Kolossi is the ancient archaeological site of Kourion, also known as Curium. We visited it straight after Kolossi Castle as the two places are within a mile or two of each other. You can also take a bus to this place starting from outside the front of Limassol castle and I think the fare I saw advertised was CYP £7 return. The entrance charge to the site was only CYP£1 and money ...
