...stayed for 6 days in Kowloon after 4 days in Hong Kong Island. What a contrast! HKI is where the money is and Kowloon is the powerhouse that supplies all the workers that keep HK Islanders prosperous.
Kowloon is the place to shop if your budget is anything less than millionaire. There are numerous shopping malls including the Yue Hwa chain of Chinese retail stores that stock genuine Chinese goods at bargain prices. I bought small original Chinese ... ...that is happening in Kowloon.
Kowloon is all about shopping. I have never seen so many shops per square mile anywhere. High fashion, jewellery, made-to-measure clothes, etc, etc. I bought a business suit and trousers and shirts. They fit superbly. You get measured, come back in 2 days time and then your order is ready in another 48 hours. You can pay HK$2,000-5,000 for a suit and the higher price does not necessarily guarantee a better product. ...

...eaters paradise. My visit to Kowloon included a ferry trip on the Star Ferry which crosses the harbor. Just like on TV the amazing sight of the surrounding skyscrapers and the traditional boats sailing by. Kowloon is the heart of Hong Kong and to see what Hong Kong has to offer its mainly compacted into the small valuable space. Ideal for all the family with children as fun is guaranteed ...

Advantages: quick and easy transport Disadvantages: none
...I loved the star ferry although according to people the journey gets shorter and shorter every year due to reclaimed land.
The journey itself costs approx 25pence and takes you from Kowloon over to Hong Kong island in approx 5-10 mins and vice versa. You get an excellant view of all the main sights of Hong Kong and Kowloon and experience a trip on the water soaking up the atmosphere which i find electrical day and night.
The best time to travel is during the sound and light show which takes place in the evening at 8pm as you get a spectactular laser show with all the main buildings along the harbour taking part.
There are several ferries aday up until approx 10pm at night....

Advantages: Really Cheap country Disadvantages: Really far away
...One of the cheapest ways to travel around Hong Kong is to cross the between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon by the harbour ferry.
This is the cheapest boat ride you will ever take in your life and the crossing takes about 15 minutes. You then have the chance to choose which cabin you sit in the upper deck or first class for $1.50 Hong Kong Dollars or 2nd class on the lower deck for about $1 this costs in British pence between 8 - 12p depending whether you feel rich enough to sit up in first class. I wonder if Star ferries offers Frequent Flyer miles
The best way to travel and in style
Only in Hong Kong...

Advantages: Food, transportation, variety of shops, vibrant nightlife, some excellent views, climate Disadvantages: Expensive, pollution, inconsistent service
...Island, Peng Chau and Cheung Chau to name a few).
Tram Routes - These are the cheapest of the types of transport. It is usually less than HK$5 (US$0.63), and are usually about HK$2-3 (US$0.25 - $0.38).
And guess what? There's usually no TRAFFIC around here!! The traffic system around here is excellent, and is also among the world's best. I can safely say that Hong Kong has the best transportation system in Asia.
Shopping is another thing that makes Hong Kong the popular city it is. Although expensive at some places, Hong Kong has an extremely diverse range of shops. This ranges from clothes shops to sporting goods shops to jewellery shops to souvenir shops to many other different types of shops! Here are the popular (not to mention the best) tourist shopping areas in HongKong:
Night Market, Temple Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon
