Advantages: Near perfection! Disadvantages: Sanitation can be basic!
...I don't know why I'm telling everyone about this idyllic location because it's presently the 8th wonder of the world and could be spoilt. However, Krabi, or more specifically, Rai Lay Beach is what dreams are made of! This is a place which can only be reached by longtail boat from Krabi Town or if arriving from Phi Phi via boat from Ao Nang. The accomodation can either be at top end (Dusit Rayavadee Resort), Mid-range (Langka Deng - but no walk-ins) or budget end (various bungalow options). All are within 5 mins. from the beach as you can walk from one side of the island to the other, at this point, in about 10 mins.. There are various bars and restaurants with their feet in the sand. The sea is crystal clear and you can take a longtail boat, very cheaply, to various outlying islands with Chicken Island definately worth a visit, though...

Advantages: Beutiful, Cheap Disadvantages: Difficult to get to
...I feel a little guilty for writing this, because I don't want everyone to go there and spoil the place!
If you are looking for paradise you are unlikely to find anywhere as close to it as this. It is breathtakingly beutiful!
A longtail boat takes you along to Raleigh beach, where there is a wide range of accomodation available. Incredibly our pleasent beach hut cost about £10 a night and there were many cheaper options available.
The resort sold delicious food and drinks.
The beach was stunning, the water was clear and the sand white. Perfection
If you read this keep it quiet, we don't want everyone finding out!...

Advantages: Good food, good atmosphere Disadvantages: It rained a lot when we were there!
...Krabi is a lovely little town often used as a stopover on the way to the islands of Ko Phi Phi. However, it has more than enough going for it to keep you hanging around for more than a short while. We arrived by boat from Phi Phi in a torrential thunderstorm but were able to find a delicious bowl of steaming hot Tom Yam soup - accomodation too was easy to find, good quality and inexpensive. Don't miss the night market - the food is fantastic and there are loads of sights and smells. All in all well worth stopping for a while. The beaches and cliff formations around this area are also spectacular....
