After seeing how my opinion on Porec, in Croatia was liked, I felt it was probably time for another opinion on a place that could do with more visitors!
I guess we pick 'em hey? first Croatia then Slovenia for Summer holidays, but my preconcieved ideas of a war torn country we soon gone, just as I was nicely surprised with the beautiful countryside in Croatia, Kranjka Gora was a place that I was totally surprised with in Slovenia.
Kranjka Gora is situated in the Alps by the borders of Austria and Italy (it is possible to cycle into either country from the town) which means the scenery is excellent, and ideal if you are into walking or cycling.
The town is actually a ski resort with many slopes around, so during the summer season the town is very quiet, which is surprisingly nice! Local transport is good and if you go on a package tour with an English tour operator, there are bound to be lots of tours that you can go on if walking isn't your idea of a good holiday/
The trips available to us were a day trip to some huge, beautiful caves, a tour of the area, and Lake Bled, amongst many others. We also took the opportunity to hire some bikes (as I am not a fan of mountain walking!). The bikes were very cheap, but of good quality (well they have to be to so you can go up and down mountains!).
Although English isn't spoken quite as widely as it is in Croatia for instance, it is easy enough to get by without the language, so there are no worries there.
The country is also very cheap too! I borrowed the equivalent of £10 off my parents, for things like bottles of coke (and I drink quite a lot) and I cambe back with around £2.50 after a week... so you can see how cheap it is!
Town: Situated in the Mountains with the purest of glacier sourced rivers flowing through it.
Cost: Very very cheap
Language: No need to learn Slovenian, but its always nice isn't it!
Stuff to do: Lots, but be prepared to travel if you don't like walking!
So if you are looking for a quiet, beautiful place to go on holiday, and you have already been to Croatia, Slovenia is an ideal place to visit.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
hi, thasnks for the feedback, but to me that specific enough. I mean I included all the buyers info needed and illustrated every item o the auction site and how it ran, okay I understand giving a helpful, but fairly helpful was really harsh and I am afraid I just find it injustic giving me a 'fairly helpful' when peopel give that to people who write like 7 words, with laods of spellign mistakes and everything. i am sorry but you don't gie me a enough info to even 'siorrect' myself, very unfair and undignified I say.
