Advantages: Stunning all year round Disadvantages: Droves of tourists in July and August
...Bled is a wonderfully peaceful place to come, and the lake in spectacular, which the island with the church on it making wonderful photo opportunities. Whilst the droves swarm in over the summer, it is best seen in early spring, as everything is tranquil, and there are no crowds. To get to the far end of the lake and Bled itself, there is a frequent branch line service, which connects with the main Jesenice-Ljubljana line. Food is cheap and beer especially so, and the atmosphere very peaceful. I would recommend a stop off in Bled for a few hours as it is great to get away from it all, and Lake Bled is a pleasant diversion from Jesenice, essentially an industrial town....

Advantages: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.. Disadvantages: it might be a while till i make it back..
...Right in the middle of Lake Bled is tiny Bled island. And when I say tiny, i mean allow yourself around 5 minutes to walk the whole island!
Bled island is part of the reason the area around Lake Bled is so pretty and picturesque. Bled is a gorgeous location situated in the Julian Alps with a castle perched above the lake and the little island in the middle.
To get to Bled Island you can grab a water taxi from the side of the lake (we got ours in front of the tourist information place). You can share your water taxi with others to save cash (just wait around where the boats are), but as we were there in winter there was no one around to share with so we just took our own over, for around 20 euros. The taxi will ferry you to the island and then wait for you to come back usually allowing you an hour which includes the ten minute trip...

Advantages: Like Austria only cheaper Disadvantages: night life limited
...Lake Bled is a lakeside resort in the mountains of Slovenia. Its is an incredibly beautiful location. The hotels are well appointed and I can recommend The Hotels Park and Kompas for both comfort and service. There are plenty of restaurants serving Alpine, Italian and local dishes. The Ocarina and Mlino are especially good, though most are of a high standard. There is a fairytale cliff-top castle, plenty of walks for hikers through spectacular areas. Recommended tours to Postonja Caves. Also visit Lake Bohinj for another great lake.We have also stayed in local accomodation Pension Diane where we were treated to wonderful hospitality. Using a few words of the Slovenian language helps, as does a smattering of German, though almost every waiter appears to speak English. Recommended for anyone who enjoys peace and nature...
