Advantages: great beach, friendly local, cheaper hotels and quiet holiday Disadvantages: during the low tide the water tend to go far
...My sister and i stayed on the east coast of Zanzibar Island at Jambiani village,We stayed for 7 nights at small hotel Mbuyuni Beach Village, the location was great,
We had awasome time in our simple but clean thatched beach bungalow.
The beach and the local peoples were great
but be aware of low tide rotation the water rotates every 4 hours during the low tide you have to walk for 4 minutes for swim, but during the high tide there is no problem at all.
note that most restaurants on this coast serve mainly sea food ,We hardly found one with full vegtarian menu,
most the sea food are fresh "daily catch"
During the day,you will find lots of local women on the beach that offer massage services for reasonable prices....

Advantages: Great market food and masai jewellery. Disadvantages: You can't walk about on your own.
...The ferry across to the island from Dar es Salaam can be quite expensive, and tends to fluctuate quite a lot. We paid about $50, for the return trip. It takes about 3 hours to get across, and it can be very bumpy.
We were met at the port by a guy called Halim, who took us to the hotel, arranged trips for us etc, etc, but it is very easy top get from the port to the centre of Stone Town by taxi – don’t worry, they will find you.
The hotel was pretty run down, but comfortable, but we didn’t mind, as we knew that we would only be spending one night there before going up north to the decent beaches.
There are many restaurants, most pretty awful, where you can get everything from pizzas to curries, and there are always plenty of people willing to guide you to them. Another option especially y for lunch is just to go to the local market...

...Having lived in Dar Es salaam(Tanzania) for almost 25 years till I moved to London, it was nothing strange that I felt "homesick" and wanted to revisit the city where I had spent my child hood and having finished studies spent part of my youth. The very thought of going to Dar es salaam, made me tingle with pleasure at the memories of the warm and lush beaches and cool evenings, with wind rustling through the palm trees
The vast open plains dominate much of Tanzania and you suddenly feel very, very small. And so you should. You have just joined one of the largest, wildest animal populations in the world. Wildebeest, Monkey, Antelope, Lion, Cheetah, Crocodile, Gazelle, Flamingo - you name them, Tanzania has them. Tanzania offers some of the best wildlife spotting opportunities on the continent. Famous parks such as the Serengeti and Mt...
