Kuoni

I have always liked the look of Kuoni. I have picked up their brochures many times and browsed their shops and formed the impression that they are at the upper end of high street travel agents. I generally prefer to travel fairly independently though and so until the trip I shall now describe, ... Read review

The Big (Kuoni Wedding) Day.

Advantages: Choice, tailor made, helpful staff in branch
Disadvantages: Poor communication, woeful overseas assistance, wedding co-ordinator let down, failure to address complaints.

...get married overseas and a Kuoni wedding package seemed like the most convenient and easiest way of ensuring that all the legalities and arrangements were taken care of professionally and I would have less to think about myself.

==Booking, cost and pre-wedding==

We wanted a city not a beach wedding and had decided upon San Francisco, a city I loved when I went their many years ago, before looking through the Kuoni brochure. ...
...and book.

Kuoni does offer weddings in a few other cities around the world but most are island / beach weddings. They generally include similar to our San Francisco package and price of course depends upon location. We made our booking in person in the Kuoni travel shop in London city centre. I found the staff knowledgeable, helpful and they seemed genuinely interested in us and pleased to be involved in a wedding. As well as booking ... more

Hands off, Grandma! Switzerland is mine!

Advantages: Great value, great quality - package includes a lot
Disadvantages: Don't go to Arosa for the nightlife

...my 30s! Well, the Kuoni brochures dropped through my letterbox and, even though I had intended to head to the Italian Lakes, I was drawn to the holidays in the Graubunden region with their promises of crisp alpine air and stunning scenery. Being an outdoorsy person I decided there and then that I was going on a hiking holiday in Arosa. WHY AROSA? Arosa, situated in the Schanfigger Valley and surrounded by mountain peaks, is just over 1700m above ...
...conspicuous lone traveller. This Kuoni holiday delivered. BOOKING: I booked this package through Kuoni, using their UK call centre. The operator was friendly and well informed, guided me clearly through all options and, as I was booking at quite short notice, I paid in full by Debit Card. The package I chose and adapted was an unescorted one, and included return flights, rail transfers to the resort, fly rail luggage transfer for one piece of ...

Trust in Kuoni for Quality

Advantages: Reliably competent, good local knowledge, sound judgement
Disadvantages: None in my experience

...East over 25 years ago, Kuoni had been a family household word, synonymous with outstanding quality. So when I saw the name Kuoni at the foot of an advertisement for a holiday in the Maldives that attracted me, I felt immediately reassured and had very high expectations. The publication was the Daily Telegraph magazine, another upholder of values that I felt I could trust. I tore out the advertisement and for about 6 weeks did nothing about it. ...
...in my arrival. The Kuoni representative greeted us at the airport, explained that she would be coming with us to our island where she lived and explained that she needed us to leave our tickets with her to confirm our return flights. We also left our main luggage which we were told would be taken to our island for us. It was slightly disconcerting parting with both tickets and luggage so immediately on arrival but at least there were a number of ...

Value for Money

Exceptional Value and Assistance

Advantages: Wide range, wedding service excellent, easy booking and helpful!!
Disadvantages: Often perceived as the most expensive, online booking little confusing

...Eventually I was given a Kuoni brochure, I looked through, thinking it would be exceptionally expensive, and was very pleasantly surprised. They do a wide variety of destinations, including Central and South America, the USA, African and Asian continent as well as Australasia and Europe. The variety of "ways" in which you can take your holiday are also good - they do things such as 4 nights city, 3 nights beach, and various different combinations. ...
...wedding section call centre at Kuoni and they were never difficult or impatient. They went through everything we needed to know, from visa's to enter Kenya (our destination), the paperwork we would need to get married, and clear and concise pricing. They checked various dates for us and constantly offered advice and options. I did however, hold my breath when they were putting the price together for us, I was certain that the way I had priced it ...

TOTAL QUALITY and Total Flexibility

Advantages: Simply the best.
Disadvantages: They don't do many holidays in Europe.

Kuoni un-packaged the package holiday long before JMC had even been thought of. They’ve been offering mix-and-match facilities for many years. Apart from affordable holidays to superb destinations in splendid hotels and their magnificent service, Kuoni have another major asset. They don’t book massive capacity on planes and in hotels then try to sell them to us, each holiday is created at the time of booking. So, if you want to change ...
...all 5-star, etc. With Kuoni this is not a problem, you simply ask them to change the hotels to suit your preferences. If one hotel is cheaper then it will bring down the cost of the holiday. Because they use scheduled flights, it is also possible to change the number of nights in any particular destination, or even the order in which you visit destinations, subject to operational limitations. Our last Kuoni holiday was a two centre holiday to Thailand. ...

Always Reliable

Advantages: Escorted by tour guide - solves all problems
Disadvantages: Be careful with the food - only drink/clean teeth in bottled water

We have travelled with Kuoni on long distance holidays 4 times over the last 10 years, I can only say that they really are the most reliable tour operator around. Our most recent holiday was to India. This was our first escorted tour, 'Land of the Maharaja's' involving 2 weeks touring of Rajasthan. Our Kuoni tour guide, Grania Burke, was superb, looking after the party in a relaxed and good humoured way, dealing with rooms, tips and tickets and giving ...
...By the end of the fortnight she felt like a real friend. All of the hotels that were selected for us were first class, ranging from almost brand new hotel in Jaisalmere that looked like a palace to the converted fort at Rohet where we enjoyed a very atmospheric evening of entertainment by fire-eaters, dancers and magicians in the ruins of the old fort's tower. For the majority of the tour the breakfast and evening meal was included in the price ...

Now part of a chain but still has character

Advantages: A taste of old colonial
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

Stayed here on two separate nights on the Kuoni Leopard safari this July but it's used as the start point for a lot of Kuoni tours. Hotel used to be the Mayfair Court (stayed here in 94) and retains a lot of local flavour with pretty gardens, water features and an outdoor canopied breakfast restaurant where much food is cooked fresh to order. This overlooks a decent sized swimming pool but you aren't assaulted by chlorine. The room the first time was standard hotel chain fittings, nothing special. On our return we were in a spacious ground floor room overlooking the garden (where a wedding was taking place) with the most comfortable beds and pillows ever - so comfy that we tucked ourselves under duvets and watched TV from bed (we had been on the road for 14 days)! Big bars of soap in the bathroom. There is an excellent steak ...

Beauty in Bangkok

Advantages: Great Breakfast, Friendly staff, central location, Yummy poolside pina coladas.
Disadvantages: Perhaps not very wheelchair friendly.

On our trek throhugh Thailand in March 2008 our first point of call was Bangkok. We chose The Arnoma hotel as it was very centrally located by the main shopping district and close to siam square. It was very reasonably priced and i think cost us about £33-00 a night we booked through kuoni so got a lower price with the whole package and i think a night free! When we entered our room we were over the moon. I had read a couple of reviews on trip advisor which lead us to be dubious about the cleanliness of the hotel. However, the room was adorable with rose petals on the bed and fresh flowers. The bathroom was large, clean and modern and the bed was reasonably firm, just how we like it. There was a large swimming pool with a Bar which served excellent Pina Colados served in coconuts! Yummy. The eye opener for me were the views from ...

Lazing at the Leopard

Advantages: Wonderful setting and spa facilities
Disadvantages: Beds very hard

We spent three nights here after a 2-week Kuoni safari through Kenya and were looking for sunshine and indulgence. The sun hardly shone but the indulgence made up for it! The hotel is situated in well maintained gardens on the beach south of Mombasa and the rooms are bungalows or pretty 2-storey blocks. We had a standard room which was clean, spacious, had a good sized bathroom and patio doors to your own outdoor seating area overlooking gardens and water features. We had a problem opening the patio door one day, rang reception and it was fixed within hours. Nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly staff. The food was the best on the whole holiday - fresh, hot when supposed to be, plentiful and served in a lovely setting overlooking the sea. Much of the meat was cooked to order - a complete change from the safari ...
