We have travelled with Kuoni on long distance holidays 4 times over the last 10 years, I can only say that they really are the most reliable tour operator around. Our most recent holiday was to India. This was our first escorted tour, 'Land of the Maharaja's' involving 2 weeks touring of Rajasthan. Our Kuoni tour guide, Grania Burke, was superb, looking after the party in a relaxed and good humoured way, dealing with rooms, tips and tickets and giving sound advice in respect to shopping without 'nannying' us. By the end of the fortnight she felt like a real friend. All of the hotels that were selected for us were first class, ranging from almost brand new hotel in Jaisalmere that looked like a palace to the converted fort at Rohet where we enjoyed a very atmospheric evening of entertainment by fire-eaters, dancers and magicians in the ruins of the old fort's tower. For the majority of the tour the breakfast and evening meal was included in the price and this usually consisted of a buffet. It was of excellent quality, but did tend to be repeated from one hotel to the other. An American gentleman on the trip was beginning to suffer from steak deprivation, but satisfied this by a visit to another restaurant in the hotel that catered for western tastes. The food in India is incredibly good, however caution is required in the choice of some foods, avoiding salads being of prime importance, even in 5 star hotels. We did not suffer any ills at all during the 2 weeks, but a couple of other members of the party did and when you are travelling around the sights by coach it can be difficult (an understatement) if you are suffering from Delhi belly All in all, excellent, highly recommended.
