I travelled here in April for my honeymoon it was absolutly beautiful. Situated on the north reef of the Lhaviyani Atoll this truley is paradise. The resort is split into two areas the Kuredu island and Sangu. Sanguers have their own dedicated areas such as exclusive bar, restaurant and reception, but can also use all other facilities and bars.
Accommodation:
There are 4 different types of accommodation on the island these are the water villas, jacuzzi villas, these are more expensive and classed as part of Sangu and beach villas and beach bungalows. We stayed in a water villa and I can say they are fab, with beautiful sunset views and steps down into the warm sea, and kingsized four poster beds. I cannot comment on what the other types of accommodation look like as I never actually went inside one but from the outside they all look amazing. The furniture is all wrought iron and the beds are very comfortable.
Food, drink and Entertainment:
There are several restaurants on the island, I tended to stay in own own restaurant which was exclusivly for Sangu but can say that the food was lovely with plenty of choice even for vegetarians with different themes each night, for example one night it was mexican night the next indian etc. There is also al al carte restaurants for which you have to pay but you are entitled to 20% off if your all inclusive. The entertainment isnt up to much, with crab racing and the occasional disco but hey you're on a relaxing holiday so who wants lively nightlife. There are various bars around the island so you're never too far from a drink. There is the Babuna bar this is the main bar situated on Kuredu which can get quite busy and noisy. This is where they have the discos and crap racing. Then theres the Akirri bar, this is much quieter The Pool bar Golf bar, on the golf course Sangu bar, exclusivly for Sanguers. This is not that lively but can get busy. And the Sai Kotari bar, this has not long been open and offers a varity of teas and coffees. This is situated so it has fab sunset views.
Shopping;
On the island there is a souvenier and gift shop selling the usual tourist tat, this can be quite pricey in here as there is nowhere else to go A jewellery shop, all the jews come from Sri Lanka and they are fabulous to look at, I never got to find out how expensive they were though. A photo processing shop which does your photos in an hour so you dont have to wait till you get homeand a diving equipment and golf shop. There is also a libarary where you can borrow books or do a swop when you've read yours and a relaxing spa with specially trained Thai staff ready to detox you.
Special touches.
Whilst there we had our own waiter and room boy who worked extremly hard, each night when we went back to the room our room boy had laid rose petals and made the bed sheets into pretty pattens. We were also lucky enough to plant a tree in the garden with our own personal plack, this is easy to do you just need to ask one of the gardeners who will happily oblige. Many people had done this and left messages to the loved ones who had passed away. There is also an oppotunity to renew your wedding vows which would be lovely. We never seen this being done but I can image it to be beautiful. As the island is so big, (you can walk around it in a couple of hours) the residents of Sangu are entitled to a ride on the local bus which was great if you dont want to walk.
Travel
We travelled with emerites via dubai then took a seaplane to the island which took approx 45 minutes, this I would also advise as the boat can take four hours. I would highy recommend a vist. I would definatly go back when we can afford it.
