After 2 years of travelling, I am currently in Greece. I'm paying 3 Euro per hour at internet cafes, so please forgive me if I don't rate and comment as often as I might as I am still finding my way around ciao!

Ladies Beach lies just 6km from the main resort of Kusadasi on the south western coast of Turkey. It has a compact, very safe sandy beach, where bars and restaurants line the pedestrianised beach promenade and hotels climb the surrounding hills.
It is a very popular resort with the Irish, who come in large family groups throughout the summer season. This is no doubt the reason bars advertise themselves as "Irish Bars", despite the fact that there is nothing Irish about them, and few of them even serve Guiness!
There is a good selection of inexpensive restaurants, with names like "June & Ray's Hot Pot", where the cooks (to use the word chef would be an insult to chefs the world over) churn out steak and kidney pie, chips and egg and chicken nuggets for hours on end and their tables are always full. Servings are generous and there are usually a few freebies thrown in - free starter or dessert and coffee.
If you have travelled to Turkey to sample the local food - I'm afraid you're out of luck here! I stayed at the Rosie Hotel (more of a pension than a hotel really), which is right on the main beach promenade and has a very popular restaurant on the ground floor. There are over 300 items on their menu - only FIVE of which are Turkish! Having said that, the food was good and the service likewise.
The beach, which is wide and made up of fine sand, COULD be gorgeous, but the sunbeds are packed so tightly that you can't move the beds as the sun moves round, which means that at various stages through the day your head is in the shade whilst your feet are baking to a crisp!
There are no strong currents (although at times there can be quite strong waves), and the depth change is very gradual making it a safe beach for swim and play - if you find a square metre to yourself. It is a very popular bathing spot for Turks, who arrive at the crack of dawn to stake their claim under the few free straw parasols. If you like to swim, you have to go a long way out, passing the numerous games of volleyball, frisbee etc being played in the shallows. The cheeky, flirtatious Turkish boys who collect payment for the sun beds patrol up and down relentlessly and are happy to help you re-position your parasol in an attempt to find some shade. There are the usual watersports - parascending and banana boat etc - to be found at at the outer edges of the bay.
The many bars have wide screen TVs for all the sport you could ever wish to watch and serve a good selection of foreign beers and cocktails, and I'm sure plenty of visitors never feel the need to stray away from the 1km long beach promenade.
If, like me, you prefer to actually see what TURKEY is like, then there are plenty of travel agencies offering a good selection of cheap excursions and tours to the numerous nearby historic sites - and even further afield to the fabulous landscape of Cappadocia.
You may summise that I did not particularly enjoy my stay at Ladies Beach. It was a good, inexpensive place to use as a base for 4 weeks as I explored the many sites of the area, the accommodation was basic, the food cheap, and the locals very friendly - but I would never return for a two week holiday!
