Advantages: Hot, Great nightlife, Lots to do.
Disadvantages: Scary Greek men, quite expensive in some places.

Malia has many things to do during the day and many more to do at night!! ~*~TRAVELLING~*~ We flew with Golden sun from Newcastle airport at 6:35pm, and we arrived at Heraklion airport at 12:30am their time. There is a two hour increase in time over in Greece than in the UK. Our flight was fine, no problems at all, there was no delays and everything ran smoothly. We collected our baggage at the other end, and boarded the coach which was going to drop us at our apartment. It was dark, as it was about 3am in the morning when we got there. Our apartment was down quite a dark quite road so we decided not to venture out until the following day, so we unpacked our cases and had an early night! ~*~ACCOMODATION~*~ The apartments we stayed in were called Michalis Apartments. Advantages: hot, party atmosphere, something for everyone,
Disadvantages: its too hot, most places are not air conditioned, all the clubs are meat markets

Heraklion we has to wait another hour for out baggage to reappear. A Coach (thankfully air-conditioned) eventually took us to our hotel. Package holidays seem to be offered from a variety of tour operators (e.g. Escapades/18-30/2wentys) flying out from all major airports. ***Accommodation*** We stayed at the ‘Odyssey Apartments’ just outside the centre of Malia. It took about 10mins to walk into town and 15mins to get to the Beach – although a bit longer on the way back after a night out. The location is perfect – near enough to walk/stagger/crawl yet far enough way to avoid all the noise/commotion of the main street. The staff were not very helpful here – reception was the hotel bar and the owners did not speak good English. Whilst we were there, the security guard beat someone up and was fired so we spent 3 ...

Malia, Crete

Advantages: Lots of nightlife

I'd never heard of Malia - but a friend persuaded me to go as it was 'This years Faliraki' - so instantly that should give you a taster for what the resorts about. Basically, it is a haven for anyone who is young enough or who feels young enough to party all night long, sunbathe all day and drink constantly through them both. There really is little else to do on resort, unless you want to hire a car and drive out for days or join the excursions that are available but sometimes costly. The resort is pumping, and although its not the largest of places, just a beach with one main street filled with pubs, clubs, bars and eatery's with a few side roads and an 'old town' with a church, it gets packed.
