Advantages: Japan's cultural heritage - designated historic relic

Advantages: Free admission to see one of the best Japanese Architecture and Landscaping!
Disadvantages: Need to obtain visitor's permit.

Advantages: Excellent view of Kyoto, including the Tower! Good change from all the temples...
Disadvantages: Sticks out amongst 'traditional' surroundings, shops aren't anything special

Famous and fun.

Advantages: Beautiful, good views, cheap.
Disadvantages: A steep climb from the centre of the city.

Kiyomizu Temple is one of the most famous temples in Kyoto and a beautiful site with brilliant views over the rest of the city.
