We stayed in the Kyriad la Villette in Paris for three nights and can only partly confirm the positive review written so far. First of all, although we had booked bed and breakfast over the internet, the receptionist insisted that the breakfast was not included and that the company (lastminute.com) was at fault selling this hotel room together with the breakfast. As this young woman did not appear massively competent anyway, we came back in the evening and spoke to another member of staff - who confirmed that the breakfast was in fact included and had been paid for.
The room we had in this hotel was the smallest I've ever experienced. Even budget-chains like Etap or Formule 1 have larger rooms with more storage space. The wardrobe was absolutely tiny, more the size of a locker - way too small for two people. The bed was not a proper double bed but more like a one-and-a-half, perhaps about 120 cm wide. Not to be recommended for people who are tall or overweight.
The shower cabin again TINY - I couldn't believe it. It must have been about 60 x 60 cm. Anyone tall with wide shoulders or overweight would have problems.
Altogether I felt that we'd been diddled - being given a single room that was dressed up as a double. When we walked past other rooms in the hotel we noticed that they were considerably larger and more comfortable. I suppose though that they were in a higher price category. We paid 62 Euro with breakfast and noticed that other room categories, probably better ones, could have been booked for around 90 Euro. Altogether, the hotel was clean and well maintained. The rooms provided tea and coffee making facilities, a few magazines, and a map of Paris.
The breakfast, again, was not really impressive. Cold (!) hard-boilt eggs with slightly discoloured yolk and fruit salad that was already slightly brown. We got the impression that the stuff had been prepared the night before so it would only have to be put on the buffet in the early morning. Then again, it was only a two-star hotel, and I suppose you can only expect so much for a low star rating. Altogether the breakfast was okay - broken up baguette, croissants, butter, jams (everyone dipping a spoon into the jam pots), honey, yoghurt, fruit, cereals - we managed to fill our stomachs.
The lack of comfort in the hotel can only be excused with the relatively low price. I suppose, hotels in Paris can be horrendously dear. The area - la Villette - was fine. A working class (but safe) residential area with various inexpensive shops. The Metro station Corentin Cariou was about 250 metres away. Yet, if I was going to Paris again, I'd book a different hotel - possibly an IBIS, which costs about 59 Euro without breakfast. IBIS hotel rooms are very standardised and even though not downright spacious, they give you sufficient room for luggage etc.

Sounds like a typical 2 star hotel ... Carbonne in Relais is similar but maybe closer to the city. You could see the Eiffel from the bedroom. Hotel breakfast in Paris is pitiful, isn't it?!:)

I think I would rather have the comfort and pay a little extra. I will avoid this hotel. Maureen

Yes, I guess you have to weigh the service and accommodation up, against the price really. Good review. Mandy.xx
