Cheap and cheerful

Advantages: Central, cheap, quiet
Disadvantages: Small rooms, no on -site restaurant

This Hotel is close to the centre of Paris, and at less than £20 a night is a marvellous find. Close to many of the grands magasins, as well as hundreds of colourful individual shops, it is a perfect base from which to explore Paris. Although the hotel rooms were not the most spacious ever encountered, all were en-suite and cleaned thoroughly everyday. Covered in posters from various 'spectacles', and with a parrot in residence in the foyer, l'Hotel des Arts was truly welcoming and well worth visiting. Local restaurants - of many different nationalities - were cheap and the friendliness of this part of Paris cannot be underestimated. Although the hustle and bustle of Parisian life was at the end of the street, the enclosed nature of the road meant that noise wasn't a problem. All in all a cheap, friendly place to stay in Paris ...

He's Taking Names, People!

Advantages: well written philosphical suspense series with a supernatural edge
Disadvantages: not for the overly impressionable due to content, no extras

advance, and make it look natural. They begin to look for this mysterious person, who calls himself Kira, and to that end, have the young genius L to help them figure out the puzzle. What starts as a mere ideal soon becomes a game of chess like cat and mouse between Light and L.... It's rather a fascinating series, examining the ideals behind justice and right vs wrong. Focusing on suspense rather than violence, it keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat as they wait to see the next move that is to be made. The unexpected, yet quite logical, moves that occur from episode to episode keeps the series fresh and from denigrating into a passive viewing experience. The artwork is dark, reflecting the subject matter, with most scenes taking place at night or in the gloom of Light's bedroom or L's hotel room. It also features more of the style ...
