La Casa Del Mar, Essaouira

Advantages: Great location & cheap
Disadvantages: Not that many food places around

...I visited Barcelona this July and stayed at the Hotel Hesperia Del Mar for five nights with 3 other friends and I have to honestly say we all loved it! The hotel price which we got from expedia was one of the most competitive around and we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel, for how cheap the hotel was it was quite nice. It cost for five night my share was 145 so the entire room cost was 290. The hotel reception staff were the highlight of the hotel. They are very friendly, warm and always willing to help! The rooms were standard and offered everything we needed. The bathroom was fully equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet and sink with large mirror. The bedroom consisted of 2 single beds and were comfy. There is air conditioning so we never felt hot and flustered in the room unless we turned it off and forgot to put it... Read review

...travelling distance, so we looked at alternative flights there too. By being able to travel on any day the flights cost less than 100GBP each. ARRIVAL We hired a car at the airport and drove from Murcia along the Mar Menor, it was a Sunday afternoon, out of season so the roads were fairly quiet. But having said this, we still managed to miss the turning into the development where we were staying. But it was no problem, once you get to the end of La Manga you can't go any further so we just turned around and headed back! THE AREA La Manga is a strip of land which stretches for approx 15 miles and this is the only route you can take to get to Mar Menor. It runs alongside the Mar Menor (inland sea) one side and the Med on the other, making for a very picturesque journey from the airport, once you leave behind the high rise apartment... Read review

...a donation for the upkeep of the synagogue. Lets leave the narrow alleyway of the Medina and head towards the port of Essaouira. Hungry? There's a number of restaurants and cafes selling freshly caught fish. There's a lovely square where stall holders vie for passers by attention to eat their freshly caught, freshly cooked fish. I was tempted by these little stall and cafes but in the end we went to a slightly bigger restaurant round a square just outside of the Medina. This was a lovely restaurant where I ate a huge plate of grilled shrimps. Beware though, as the one thing that marred our trip to Essaouira was the restaurant overcharging us somehow! Look out for the juices in Morocco as there are many interesting unusual ones such as avocado juice (sounds weird but it is nice in a creamy buttery way) alongside banana, almond, date...
