The restaurant is very popular with both locals and tourists, and therefore booking in advance is recommended. The bustling restaurant does create a good atmosphere, however this can sometimes start to feel a bit overcrowded, as though a few too many tables have been squeezed in.
The food is traditional Italian and a good quality and variety on the menu.
What we had to eat : On our last visit I had homemade pate, which was delicious but rather heavy, while my husband had parmesan soup. Not being the greatest fan of this type of cheese I thought sounded it pretty horrible, and was expecting something which looked like floating toenail clippings, but when it arrived he assured me it tasted lovely and said he would definately order it again.
For our main courses I had carbonara, while my husband had italian sausage. Both our dishes were served with pasta, and we had a side order of our favourite farlic bread. I guess my carbonara is quite a safe dish, but it was extremely tasty. My husband's looked to me slighty pink the centre to me but after some encouragement I did try it and next time I think I'll be ordering that - it was gorgeous!!
By the time it came to ordering desserts I was too full, and my husband just went for the mix of italian ice creams, followed by strega liqueur.
All in all it was a delicious meal.
The restaurant also offers a take-away service, which can be good way of tasting their delicious pizzas.
Accomodation is also offered within the establishment on a B&B basis. However as I stay locally I have not used this and so cannot comment on the standard of it.
I would happily reccoment La Scarpetta to anyone visiting Loch Lomond, not simply because it is the only restaurant of its type in the area, but because of the quality of the food, and the wonderful atomsphere can only lead to a great night out. Enjoy yourselves!!!

Living in Scotland my wife and I have discussed at length about putting in a visit to both loch lomond and loch aber, the latter being my clans home. It is nice to pre-empt and know where it is good for eating etc.
