Advantages: SERVE QUICKLY AND DELICIOUS FOOD Disadvantages: NONE
...My family and I were on holiday in London recently and on the Saturday evening we were booked to see a show that started at 7.30pm so we needed to find somewhere to eat in the West End where we could be in and out fairly quickly.
We stumbled upon La Tasca in St Martins Lane in The West End and having previously visited our local La Tasca in Plymouth a couple of times decided to eat there. It did look small from the outside so peeped in first to see how big it was and if it was really busy.
Appearances are deceptive and inside it really stretched back a very long way and it was busy but not heaving. The tables were laid out really well and nobody seemed to encroaching on anybody elses space. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed and candlelit and bearing in mind it was about 6pm and still light outside, we felt away from the hustle...

It has no more than a dozen of tables, all set on one level with an oven and a preparation area positioned in the middle of the floor. The atmosphere is definitely Italian but without the cliché Venice gondoliers or opera singers pictured on the walls. In the background contemporary Italian songs were playing and the flat screen TV on the far off wall had the sound off.
The menu is of a manageable size...

Advantages: Good service, and amenities Disadvantages: A long way from anything
...Embassy Suites
On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work.
The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall.
It's easy to drive into the hotel and should you ask for it there is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel.
Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. The reception desk is large and well staffed and also...
