Two of us went into La Tasca in Covent Garden one evening. I had my nose turned up as it was a chain, and I've heard about chains. None of us fancied the other restaurants in the area and we could not decide what we wanted to eat, so tapas was a good solution.
The service was not great at first, but it could have been due to the place being almost packed. I liked the pictures and decor, so I entertained myself until we could get the attentions of a waitor/ress. We finally did, and ordered away. The staff were able to describe dishes to us, and waited patiently for us to finish debating the pros and cons of each tiny tapas dish. The was greatly appreciated.
We had a really nice bottle of Rioja, and actually ordered another bottle before we finished with the food! The food was great. We ate most of it, but wanted to save space for dessert. They may look tiny- those tapas dishes, but they seem to have alot in them. We ordered about 9 different types, and we were so full! Dessert time came, and our waiter, who seemed to have taken a shine to us, brought us a dessert menu. We had average desserts, and went on to coffee. We wanted a liquor with coffee, and the waiter recommended a hazelnut type liquor as I wanted a change from Amaretto or Tia Maria. It was wonderful, so we sat there and before we knew it, we'd ordered enough to finish the whole bottle! We finally staggered out, happy with the whole experience. The waiter got, and deserved, a big tip!
I would go there again if I'm ever in the area. The bad thing about it is that I haven't managed to find tapas quite as good!

This is a good review - I eat out in Covent Garden quite a bit but haven't managed to try much more than Chez Gerard and Livebait! Will definitely give this place a go. Jetx
