On the road from Concarneau, 2 mi (3 km) west of Pont-Aven, is this roadside inn with an attractive garden. Chef Guy Guilloux's open kitchen (with the large hearth he uses to grill fish, langoustine, crab, and Breton ham specialties) turns out local delicacies such as galette crêpes stuffed with spider crab. Splurge without guilt on the light homemade rhubarb and strawberry compote.
Advantages: excellent customer support and booking advice service Disadvantages: not a lot for 'tweenagers' to do on board the ferries
...Brittany Ferries is not just a ferry operator, but also a holiday and hotel booking service.
~~ Booking ~~
Somehow, no matter how hard we try to plan things in advance we always do things at the last minute. Last July we decided, rather late in the day, that we’d like a ‘little holiday’ in France. This was to be our third short break in France, having previously travelled to Caen and Cherbourg, both from Portsmouth.
This time we chose St Malo, and gave ourselves a week to arrange it and get there!
Brittany Ferries offers what appears to be a great online booking service, trouble is we were too late to use it and I had to use the phone to make the booking, referring to the website to find details of hotels. We wanted bed and breakfast somewhere we could use as a centre for a quiet sightseeing family holiday that we could...

Advantages: Reaches the destination on time Disadvantages: Very uncomfortable journey if travelling with toddlers and luggage
...We have travelled from Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries on several occasions.
The service has always been punctual and the staff on board helpful.
The cabins are quite unconfortable and very, very small. They are probably okay for passengers with no luggage. But if you have to carry luggage into your cabin you will struggle to move. If you have to use a cot you will have no floor space.
With regards to children Brittany Ferries provide cots for children up to 12months of age. After that, and until they are old enough to sleep in a bed without falling off the edge, they have to either sleep in a bed with a parent (the beds are very narrow), sleep on the floor or the family will have to provide their own travel cot.
The food is terrible. Apparently, the a la carte restaurant is very good. However, there are big...

Advantages: By booking at specific times you can get a free cabin Disadvantages: you may have to book quite early in the year

We travel from Plymouth to Roscof mostly we have done the Plymouth to Santander, you can save quite a lot of money by following a few prudent steps, if you are prepared to travel at certain times eg, leaving Plymouth later in the afternoon and on return traveling back from France or Spain in the morning you can get a free cabin, also if you book at least four nights accomadation through Brittany Ferries they will give you a discounted price on the ferry which can give you quite a saving on normal prices, also if you are traveling shall we say down south in France or Spain they will give you a free nights hotel stopover on the way down you can choose where you wish to stay, but for the free night you do have to book...

Recently, my hectic student lifestyle has been playing havoc with my natural good looks (!) Endless parties, drinking and late nights have resulted in me acquiring a rather nice set of, what looks like, black eyes. Well, okay, if I’m honest,... more
