Lady Anne Middleton's Hotel, York

Advantages: Authentic, Loads to do, great pubs, small enough to walk round.
Disadvantages: Gets quite busy, Hotels a little pricey and weather not the best

...As hard as i try i can not find a single thing to dislike about York, its the absolute business. Every year in November me and the missus go to York and stay over night, leaving the three kids at home. We look forward to that mini break for most of the year as its 24 hours of a propper treat. We get all the kids pressies bought at the local designer shops and also shop around the market. There are a lot of shops in York that you dont see anywhere else in the country, one offs, such as Hucstables where you can find great street where for the kids at the right price. We normally stay in one of three hotels, Lady Ann Middleton, Novotel or Travel-inn, fully recomend any of these but the Novotel is the best and a really classy place to relax and have a swim first thing in the morning before brekie, but its a little more expensive (approx... Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my “surprise” 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts. Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. **ABOUT THE HOTEL** The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic!
