My Lovely Lagos

Advantages: A Great Atmospheric Town Bubbling with Life and Colour

I don't know why it has taken me so long to get round to writing about Lagos. I guess when you live in a beautiful place you tend to take your surroundings for granted. It's six years now since I left Portugal but there isn't a day when I don't miss the colour and ambience. On days like today when Warsaw is a sea of grey I really miss the colours blue, white and yellow - sky, white-washed houses and sand. The first stop for visitors arriving in the Algarve will be Faro airport. Faro is a fine town ans has a lot to offer for a day trip but the first thing most visitors will want to do is to get in a cab or a hired car and drive to their hotel or apartment in the sun. There will be time to view Faro and its alleyways and harbour- front another day. My first memories of living in Lagos are when I lived on a boat in the fishermen ...

La Cala Hotel

Advantages: Close to the shops
Disadvantages: In the centre of town

This hotel is great if you want to be handy for all the local shops, It is located in the center of town, which can make it noisy depending on which side of the hotel your room is. The hotel itself had 180 rooms, every room has a balcony which either overlooks the swimming pool, or the street. When i stayed at this hotel in September 05 we had a room which overlooked the pool, and it was very quiet. On entering the hotel you will notice that it has recently been renovated, it has seperate areas within the reception area, you can sit in the large reception area and have a drink at the bar, or go into the large entertainment area, which has various artists performing on an evening, there is also a small area that is used when you want to read a paper or use the telephone, there is a reasonable sized ...

Bilderberg Garden Hotel I Love You

Advantages: Wodnerful Staff, Clean, Classy, Good Location - Everything

After a very unfortunate start to our city break to Amsterdam my friend and I arrived at this hotel. I want to tell you all the shortened version of what actually happened... Our Tour Operator booked us into the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Den Haag instead of the hotel in Schiphol [where the airport is]. Not wanting to miss out on the sights of Amsterdam, and not wanting to travel 60km each way between the sights and the hotel we made our way to Amsterdam. After about 300EUR in transport, conmen taxi drivers, and "Sorry we're full, good luck!" from ever hotelier we were directed to the Garden Hotel by their sister hotel Jan Luyken.
