Tenerife is one of the four Canary Islands, Gran Canaria Lanzarotte and Fuerteventura. Tenerife is a volcanic island famous for the islands volcano Mount Tiede, the sight of many films including Planet of The Apes and Star Wars.
Play De Las Americas is the most commercial part of the island well known for it's party atmosphere and Veronicas Strip. Veronica's is a strip is an area with bars and clubs either side. In the daytime this area is deserted, grubby and smelling from the night before, but in the evening it becomes party central, full of holidaymakers looking for a good time. It is popular for its cheap drinks and late hours. As a rep on the island I did my fair share of partying but it was a dump in reality and not somewhere I would chose to go for my holidays.
If you are looking a more peaceful holiday then I would suggest Los Cristianos further away from the party scene. Also the beaches are nicer their.

While I was working there my parents came to stay for a week at the hotel so I got to have a look inside the rooms. The rooms are basic and clean but please be warned that Tenerife like most hot countries experiences a problem with Cockroaches. The hotel can only do so much to stop these pests and if you are having a problem they will do their best to help you get rid of them providing spray etc.
My parent's room was bright with yellow and orange colourings, this I felt helped with the sunny holiday vibe, and they also had a sliding door and small balcony looking down to the pool. Their room also had air conditioning, which was a godsend, as it gets very hot in Tenerife. The room consisted of a double bed and small wardrobe and table; the bathroom was small but served its purpose with shower and small bath.
My parents were half board, which meant they had their breakfast and evening meals at the hotel. As part of my job I was allowed to eat for free at the hotel but I have to say I didn't really think much of the food. It was served up buffet style, and often was re heated foods and slightly cold. Personally I tried to avoid it as much as possible, but most guests seemed content.
If you where not staying Half Board then the hotel also has a restaurant in the main Club Room and a pool smack bar. The hotel also has a small shop if you need to stock up on essential items for your self-catering holiday.
The hotel has many facilities the main feature being its large out door pool area; this is great for the kids but bad news if you are elderly or disabled. The pool is situated at the bottom of the hotel, and to access it you need to walk down a steep hill 'Cardiac Hill' as we nick named it and down some steps. Also note that this is salt water pool so if your children like going under the water they may get an eye or mouth full of salty water. Also I must stress that pool has no lifeguards and two very nasty accidents occurred while I was working at this hotel by the poolside. Children's safety is the parent's responsibility and you must ensure that your children abide by the safety rules around the poolside. The pool area has numerous sun beds but like anywhere abroad it is advisable to get down they're early.
Down by the pool you will also find Tennis Courts, Table Tennis, Football Court, Mini Golf, French Bowles Pit, all of these facilities can be hired at main reception or you can play for free when your resident entertainers are running the activity.
With regards to hotel entertainment I can only speak for when I was a member of the team, in the daytime we started running events from 10am - 5pm all activities are listed on our notice board in the main reception area. We where not Children's Reps our activities were for adults and children to participate in together. Our most popular daytime event was water polo and this ran daily at 2pm.
In the evening we hosted a wide variety of events starting off at 7pm with Children's mini disco, then onto a quick quiz, Bingo at 8pm, some sort of game show or quiz at 9pm and main cabaret act at 10pm. The cabaret acts were good quality acts from Tenerife including Brazilian Bendy Boys, magic cats, dance Troupes, Singers, Blues Brothers etc and of course once a week your resident entertainers would put on a theme night and put on a show for your entertainment. At 12pm a DJ would come on and it was disco time till 3am.
This hotel is aimed at families but also has some Escapades holiday makers (Airtours version of 18-30's). This is not a quite hotel so if you are looking for a relaxing holiday I wouldn't suggest it for you. Also if you have very young children it would be wise to ask for a room further away from the clubhouse so that the music does not disturb you.
This hotel is ok, it is very basic but if that is all you are looking for then you can get some cheap deals to stay here. I know when I was working their we had families that kept coming back; one family came back 3 times in the 7 months.
Advantages: Views, range of activities Disadvantages: Location
I visited the Laguna Park 2 apartments for a week in November 2005. I hope you find this review helpful! On top of the already great features at the Laguna Park 2 you can also use the facilities at Laguna Park 1 at the bottom of the hill.
Location
the Laguna Park 2 apartments are on the outskirts of Playa de las Americas near Costa Adeje. It is quite a long walk to the beach, and about 10 minutes to bars and restaurants. If it is the very lively ... ...be too far out. It is on "cardiac hill", you have to walk down a slope to the pool from most apartments. It would definitely not be suitable for those with walking difficulties as the hill is just too steep and long. There are a couple of lifts but whether they are working or not is a different matter.
There is a taxi rank right outside the hotel, which came in useful. Taxi's are very reasonably priced so make the most of them! To get a taxi outside ...

Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Up at the top of a steep hill
My husband and I stayed here last year for 1 week. The place it's self was fine, room clean, clean sheets and towels aplenty. The problem with this complex is you have a long walk down to shop, bars, restaurant etc. It is a very steep hill, which I found difficult to say the least. Coming back up was worse. I suffer arthritis and this did me no favours.
Certainly NOT SUITABLE for anyone with problems walking, or using a wheel chair. They do run ... ...it. We had to several times get a taxi as no bus driver, bus in garage, or they had even changed times of running.
The staff were friendly as was the manager, who did offer me the use of an electric buggy to drive down the steep slope to the lift to go down to the swimming pool. Quite a trek down there.
It is probably best suited to young people with loads of energy, but a definate no o or the less able or e young kiddies (they would soon complain ...

Advantages: Pool area very fun, supermarket Disadvantages: Basic accommodation, hilly terrain
I stayed in Laguna Park II in the summer of 2005 for a fortnight with my father when I was 17. We booked the holiday last minute as we always did, so we got a reasonable price and didn't expect too much. We arrived at Laguna Park in the middle of the night, and apart from the loop that the coach driver had to take, didn't really notice much about the location of the hotel. When you enter the hotel, there is a reception which you walk through - the ... ...Aside from this I would happily recommend Laguna to a friend simply looking for a basic accommodation - extravagant a hotel it is not.
This holiday cost us £380 per person for a fortnight with Direct Holidays, including in flight meals, transfers and excluding insurance. Good value for money. ...
