I stayed in Laguna Park II in the summer of 2005 for a fortnight with my father when I was 17. We booked the holiday last minute as we always did, so we got a reasonable price and didn't expect too much.
We arrived at Laguna Park in the middle of the night, and apart from the loop that the coach driver had to take, didn't really notice much about the location of the hotel. When you enter the hotel, there is a reception which you walk through - the staff were perfectly polite. There was a supermarket next to the reception for conveniece, it was good value for money.
When you go through the reception you have to walk down a hill to the row with your apartment, therefore whenever you leave you then have to scale the hill within the hotel. You get used to it, but I wouldn't suggest this for anyone with walking difficulties or a distaste for a trek! The hotel is situated on a hill, which numerous reviews talk about. The hill is not so bad to start off with, but it does get tedious having to walk up and down it to get to any central part of the resort. In reality though, with the use of the underpasses, you can get to the resort centre of Puerto Colon in about 15-20 minutes on foot.
The room in the hotel was very clean, but extremely basic, two beds in a room, a balcony overlooking some more apartments, and a bathroom. The kitchenette area was basic too, but still sufficient.
There was a large pool area which was the highlight of the hotel, with a restaurant situated above the pool bar. We chose not to eat at the hotel so I have no comment on the food, but it was simply a buffet for the half-board guests. The pool area was clean, fun and playful - but sunbeds were a struggle - towels were down by about 11am!
Overall, the hotel was a nice place for us to stay on our visit - it was nice to be away from the resort centre, although we could have done without the hill sometimes, and also the bridge that leads to the hill - it's a motorway overpass and Spanish drivers are crazy! Aside from this I would happily recommend Laguna to a friend simply looking for a basic accommodation - extravagant a hotel it is not.
This holiday cost us £380 per person for a fortnight with Direct Holidays, including in flight meals, transfers and excluding insurance. Good value for money.
