There is a variety of places to stay on or around the lake. A personal favourite of mine was Island Camp. There was a 20 minute boat trip to the island when you were certain to see Hippo and Crocodile on the banks or in the water beside the boat. Accommodation ... ...with spectacular views of the lake and a surrounding mountainous landscape. The cuisine on the Island was second to none, with a superb variety of traditional dishes, game, seafood and homemade specials. During the day, there is so much to do. You can walk the Island and discover the many species of birds on the Island (you are bound to see the African Fish Eagle, that is regularly spotted), take in the many views, take a boat ride to see the hippos ...

21 the lakes is a small boutique hotel in the lake district town of windermere.
The hotel is situated on the main road that heads towards the lake and is about 3 miles from the lake itself.
