I recently stayed at the Hilton hotel in Lake Buena Vista and had a brilliant holiday there. Lake Buena Vista is adjacent to the main disny park so this makes it a ideal location for those wanting to visit both the disney parks and other attractions within Florida. If you are going to visit Florida it can be quite daunting choosing a hotel from the hundreds on offer but I would definitely choose one in the Lake Buena Vista area.
LOCATION The hotel I stayed in was less than 5 mintues walk away from the downtown disney complex that contains all the shops and resturants as well as the night time entertainment. Some of the hotels in the disney park are in the actual theme parks but you will still have to travel by bus to the other parks and if you do not eat in your hotel you need to drive or catch a bus to downtown disney. All the hotels in the Lake Buena Vista area are within easy reach of both Downtown disney and a strip of other shops and resturants. We found it nice to be able to go to the parks and then go back to the hotel and just walk to dinner without having to worry about driving or getting the bus. As the hotels are also near to many other resturants such as TGI Fridays, Red Lobster and many fast food resturants there are many different choices for dinner.
SERVICES All the hotels in Lake Buena Vista can be still be reached by the special disney buses. The disney buses run from the hotels to the parks everyday at regular intervals. It can be expensive getting around Florida as public transport is sparse except for cab services. The disney bus network is brilliant for getting around the four disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios) and the two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) and the hotels offer additional buses at peak times to Sea World and Universal Studios and the other big attractions throughout Florida. All the hotels in Lake Buena Vista have links with the parks so you can get tickets at special prices. The disney parks offer extra hours to the disney hotels and guests at Lake Buena Vista can take advantage of these too, this is especially important in peak season as ride queues can get very long. Lots of the hotels in Lake Buena Vista have disney themed attractions within them such as merchantise stores and meal times with the disney characters.
EXTRA INFORMATION There are many advanatages to being in Lake Buena Vista but one of the main draws for many people is the fact that the hotels are generally slightly less pricey than those in the disney complex. If you are travelling to disney with young children the disney hotels are great but for older guests Lake Buena Vista may be more suitable as the hotels are nicer and have more adult entertainment such as murder mystery evenings.
If you are planning a trip to Florida I would definitely recommend the Lake Buena Vista area as it is still very convient for the disney attractions and you can take advantage of all the extra offers but you ca also enjoy lots of other entertainment in the surrounding area.
