Superb hotel - Stunning location
Advantages: Friendly and efficient staff Disadvantages: None!
...Skiddaw's sister hotel, the exceptional Lodore Falls hotel.
Location
----------
The Lodore Falls hotel is located overlooking Lake Derwentwater in the Borrowdale Valley which is in the North Lakes area of the Lake District and is part of the Lake District Hotels Group. It has views of Loughrigg and Helm Cragg
It is built of traditional Lakeland Slate and has been there for over 200 years. Standing in over 40 acres with both lake frontage and ... ...served on rosti potato with Lodore red onion marmalade accompanies by a rosemary and redcurrant jus. Again this was perfect and the lamb melted in my mouth.
Desert was a raspberry parfait, which I had no idea what it was, but nothing else took my fancy. It was like an ice-cream but much richer and more solid. A wonderful way to round off the meal.
The staff throughout the meal were very efficient and more than happy to stop for a chat. Breakfast ...

Great for a weekend away
Advantages: Small and intimate Disadvantages: No bar, not suitable for kids
21 the lakes is a small boutique hotel in the lake district town of windermere.
The hotel is situated on the main road that heads towards the lake and is about 3 miles from the lake itself.
The rooms in the hotel look quite big on their website but in reality are very very small, but very intimate and the size is not a problem, there is no bar in the hotel so if you want a drink you will have to either go out or bring your own in.
Each room has ... ...satellite television apart from a few useless news channels and foreign speaking ones.
There is no pool or anything like that but you do get to use the health club in a local hotel which when I was there was very quiet which was nice.
parking at the hotel is a bit tight with just a small driveway/forecourt area for parking on, and once there is a few cars there it can be difficult to move a car in or out.
The rooms are clean and crisp and although ...

A lovely place to rest after a long day
Advantages: Location, family rooms, friendly staff, food, Disadvantages: smelly carpets in the corridors, carparking at end of drive
...our bedroom was spectacular and Grasmere itself is a lovely village..Wordsworth everything!!!
This is a great hostel for families- there was a quiet lounge and a games room, and internet access on a machine in the hallway. In addition, the gardens are great for exploring and there's a large grassy area for plagin ball games on. Given that , it wasn't too noisy. The only thing I could complain about was the sweaty sock smell on the landing outside ...

Our New Holiday Home
Advantages: Cosy, friendly, welcoming. Disadvantages: None
...bought a holiday lodge at Gatebeck holiday park on the outskirts of Kendal. It is in the perfect location to appreciate all of the surrounding natural beauty, as well as being close to shopping centres and markets while still enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. After viewing the complex and lodges, we decided to buy a lodge at this complex, as it was such a lovely place with so much surrounding nature. Along with my partner's ... ...I believe that Gatebeck only has owned lodges but many of these do seem to be rented out to holiday makers during the summer. There is plenty to do while at Gatebeck including South Lakes Wild Animal Park, The Aquarium of the Lakes, The World of Beatrix Potter, Lakeland Miniature Village, Ruskin Museum, Grizedale Park, Homescales Activity Centre, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Windermere Lake Cruises, plenty of walks, world-class bird watching, ...
