Excellent Hotel Well Worth A Look
Advantages: Good position, Excellent food, Excellent staff, Some nice rooms Disadvantages: Lake views are a little far away, Some rooms require modernisation
...I have stayed at The Craig Manor Hotel a total of eight times in the last 3 years each time for two nights (Friday and Saturday), we have stayed bed and breakfast seven times and we took dinner, bed and breakfast once. The only reason for taking dinner just the once is that there are that many good resturaunts within easy walking distance that we would rather not be kept in - house. We have also stayed in a range of different rooms. It is in a good ... ...the evening meal at The Craig Manor once, it was an extremely good meal and I would not write off the idea of eating here again its just that there are so many resturaunts nearby to choose from. They normally give you a voucher for a free bottle of wine on check in if you dine with them so that is a nice little extra. There is good wine list with a good selection of red, white and sparkling wines and the food offered a good choice and was very well ...

Linthwaite House Hotel, Windermere
Advantages: Relax with a view Disadvantages: Need a car
We have stayed at Linthwaite House a few times. We have always been made welcome and they try and create an atmosphere of staying in a nice country house.
The view from the terrace is fantastic! You look down on Windermere Lake and across the lake to the rising mountains. As you are so high up you seem to see for ever, the changing light, the lake, green of the trees, the clouds scudding across. Above the hotel they have 14 acres of land with a ... ...Of course this is not a cheap budget hotel but if you want to push the boat out and celebrate a special birthday or anniversary then think of going to Linthwaite House.
It is a distance from the centre of Windermere but that gives it tranquility and a peaceful atmosphere. ...

Woeful Pub food and service
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Avoid
Brackenrigg Inn
A lunch experience of quite unspeakable awfulness. The pub was hardly busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff around - but as customers we were at times invisible. A food order took 40 minutes to appear. We ordered Fish pie and its appearance when plonked on our table was of two large white brown cow pats on cereal bowls. It was served with a large hunk of stalish white bread and an apology for a salad. Hacking ones way through ... ...to be fair, some decent pieces of fish beneath. But the presentation and the general culinary standard was woeful - and this for dishes that were priced at an astonishing £11.95 each! On our experience this is an overpriced rip-off of a pub with diabolical service, unfriendly staff and a complete lack of regard for its customers. Avoid! ...

...a Spa deal at the Langdale Hotel and Country Club near Ambleside (39 miles from us), and thought that this sounded like just the thing I was after. The website I have to say is excellent, and if you do decide ever to visit then certainly check it out, there are photos (although saying that they can make it look a bit better than it is!) of everything – rooms, spa, restaurant. Plus it is regularly updated. Having consulted with hubby (he wasn’t particularly ... ...the long-lasting benefits of a Langdale signature treatment.” There are various other packages available, so check out the website - http://www.langdale.co.uk/spa/spabreaks.htm The package included a £27.50 allocation per person towards dinner in Purdey’s Restaurant. This sounds very generous (more generous than it actually is), a full English breakfast, and a ‘light lunch’ in the Terrace bar. Of course there’s the night in the hotel, in a signature ...

Worst Hotel Manager Ever
Advantages: Beautiful location Disadvantages: terrible service
I was daft enough to book my wedding reception at Whoop Hall before having spent much time there. I had spoke to the hotel wedding co-ordinator who seemed really nice if a little disorganised. When I arrived the day before my wedding the wedding co-ordinator was not available and the hotel manager Kym explained he would be organising things. He was so rude that I was afraid to approach him about anything. I would ask him something staright forward ... ...know, this is your wedding.' His manner was agressive and inpolite. We couldnt wait to get away the morning after the wedding, we went for sunday lunch at the pub up the road just to get away from him. For people who just want info on the hotel, its tired decor is dissapointing for a £120/ night hotel. Some of the guests that stayed for my wedding (we filled the hotel) where shocked to be charged more than they agreed when booking it £135/night. ...
