lake garda
Review of Lake Garda (Italy) by butterly444

Advantages: beautiful scenery, nice ice cream
Disadvantages: pricey

I visted Lake Garda a couple of summers ago and must say it was one of the most people places I have ever visited. Lots of people do seem to complain about it being overly touristy but with scenery like this I can certainly see why. Although it is an extremely popular holiday destination and there are a few touristy gift shops about I still would not say that Lake Garda was too touristy. When I visited I stayed in the largest resort of Riva del Garda ...
...Lake Garda has plenty to do with lots of little cafes and restaurants. It is also in walking distance of the next resort. Riva was a beautiful town with a pictureque square which was home to many forms of entertainment in the evening. Towards the end of the summer months the town is also home to a themed festival which was based upon the jungle book when I was there. Due to Riva being the most northern point of the lake the area is surrounded by ... Read review

Hotel Europa Limone, Lake Garda
Review of Malcesine, Lake Garda (Italy) by jenniferg

Advantages: Plenty of trips and sites to see !
Disadvantages: None

...to see a concert in Malcesine, which was over the water from limone. the boat ride over the water was nice but the breeze was cool as we got half way across there was a little thunder storm and it started to rain. when we docked into Malcesine the rain got heavier we then had to walk up a small cobled street to a castle by this point we were soaked. the concert was a guy playing cassical music on a piano for two hours which got abit boaring. we wouldn't ...
...the town instead much more interesting. We also did a trip to Verona and Venice. Verona had a roman amphitheatre where opera take place you can have look inside at a small cost the were plenty of cafes and resturants, but you find you pay more to eat outside than you do to eat inside there were a few designers shops and plenty of market stalls. we where given a map to show various places to visit. we visited Juilets balcony and a few churches. Excellent Place to Stay
Review of Torre Del Benaco, Lake Garda (Italy) by Joegri

Advantages: Just busy enough and beautiful views of mountains opposite
Disadvantages: Limited ferry service

I agree that Torre is a very pleasant resort indeed - possibly the nicest on Garda though Malcesine would give it a close run. The only downside is that it has a less frequent ferry service than many resorts (though this of course could account for its relative quietness!). The 11.15 to the north of the lake is useful and the cross lake vehicle ferry which runs every 35 mins is also good for getting to the western shore. use of these can give you ...
...is little at Maderno. The intersesting town of Salo is also accessible by bus from Maderno (this is a far better place to visit than Gardone Riviera). the bus service is as mentioned unpunctual and occasionally unreliable. We stayed in the Al Castello which is a very pleasant, if plain, 2* with views of the Castle from the 3rd floor where we were. The food was exceptional though and the service very friendly. Strongly recommended. For drinks the ... Read review

Great place to explore
Review of Lake Garda (Italy) by klofron

Advantages: Great scenery, beautiful towns
Disadvantages: All a bit too touristy

We booked a Lake Garda holiday at short notice last September, and found ourselves at the four star Hotel Caesius on the outskirts of Bardolino. It was a nice Hotel and we were given a large suite which made it all the better. If I were to visit the area again I would happily stay there again and definately recommend it to others. The only downside of the Hotel was that it was about 30 minutes walk along the lakeside into Bardolino itself. Not a ...
...of the nicest around the lake that we visited. Theres not a huge amount there but theres a good selection of cafes, Trattorias and Ristorantes to suit most tastes and budgets. There's also a great selection of Ice Cream shops with an unbeliveable choice of flavours. The main pedestrianised street in Bardolino is well worth seeing (apologies for not recalling its name, but if you visit Bardolino, you'll be sure to see it.). The floor is more like ... Read review

Review of Lake Garda (Italy) by melissaquilter

Advantages: very pretty
Disadvantages: not much to do

i went to lake garda as part of a trip, now most people would think that 'young people' dont appreciate scenery but with this place its hard not to, its stunning simply stunning! i took so many pictures of the mountains and the water on a beautifully sunny day. its one of those places you have dream't about but never thought exixsted. i had so much fun, and the people are lovely, i went as part of a school trip so i revised a bit of italian before ...
