Though some can be expensive (Geneva is no the cheapest of cities!) it is well worth taking a walk around the lake with a bag of your favourite hand picked chocolates!

The local, small but rather quaint and lovely shops are fun to visit, especially as there are a fun collection of cuckoo clocks that can be bought - very tempting, but maybe next time, great fun for browsing though!

The lake, and it's surrounding cafe's and shops, are very clean and unspoiled, in fact the cleanliness of Geneva was amazing and the best in comparison to any other city which I have visited.
There is less trafic polution as well, as peolpe tend to prefer to either cycle or roller skate around the lake area.

The large clock in the centre of the old town, made from colourful flowers is certainly something to be photographed, and after you have finished browsing the shops, it will be time for a coffee or hot chocolate - outside with the street entertainment whilst the sun goes down over the jet d'eau.
Oh and if you haven't visited the jet d'eau, that too is a must! Al ot of fun - but be careful as the wood which you can walk on the the centre can get slippery. Be prepared to get wet, depending on how close you want to get. I walked under and it was a fun experience, and a very good photo opportunity -just make sure that you have a water-proof camera with you! Around the area of the Jet d'eau and the front of the lake, you are able to see birds and ducks, which make this part of Geneva their home.
Their is a central bus/coach station right beside the lake, which runs tours to different parts of Switzerland and France, from here you can go to mont-blanc, book up a husky ride (as long as you are in season) and just explore. We booked ahead with expedia, the coaches were good on time, and the guides helpful -though sometimes rushed, if you can do the day with out a tour guide, especially the mountains, I would recommend taking your own pace -- I would also highly recommend just arranging a tour bus and finding out the times to get back on it if you do not wish to be part of a "group".
The trips were a little expensive, but included meals and entrance fees as well as transportation. Just remember to take plenty of money if you are going to be traveling and to keep your passport handy for the border.
Though just relaxing by Geneva old town was fantastic, and getting a boat out on the lake, very relaxing. A lovely place with a calm and peaceful feel.
...Easter period in and around Lake Geneva, I have well and truly fallen in love with it. I tend to head for Evian-les-Bains to use as my base (which is where the bottled water comes from), because of the views and facilities. Sitting right on the edge of the lake, it provides easy access to nearby Switzerland as well as the local French sights and sounds. The weather there was absolutely fantastic, and you even see the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland. ... ...to spend, as surely the lake will provide you with ample entertainment! Nightlife is about as good as it gets, but average for your small French/ Swiss holiday towns. The whole area also provides things for all the family, so you won't get bored at all! A lot of English tour operators will do regular trips to the area, so my best advice is to contact your local centre for further details. ...

't say how often towels and bedding are changed. We were able to borrow a hairdryer from reception, and shower gels, soaps etc were supplied in sachets in the shower room.
Everyone on the staff, that we came in contact with, spoke good English, and was helpful. They were happy for us to leave our bags behind the reception desk in the morning once we had checked out while we went out for a walk around Geneva. It didn't take long to reach the lake, and shopping areas of the city. ...

An obvious attraction is LakeGeneva. Dominating the Geneva harbour is the Jet d?Eau a 140m high water fountain that operates from March to October and is beautifully illuminated at night. During the summer months it is lovely to go and sunbathe by the lake (which is very clean). There is a lido but beware of European men in skimpy swimwear! For SFr12 you can also take a 1-hour boat tour of the lake that is a fantastic way to see Geneva and the surrounding area.
Geneva is also famous for its beautiful parks including the Jardin Anglais (English Garden) and the Botanical Gardens as well as several museums ? including a clock and watch museum! If possible I would also recommend hiring a car and exploring a little more of Geneva and France. The drive along the north side of LakeGeneva boasts stunning scenery and the towns ...
Switzerland is the ultimate holiday destination in Europe for those who want to see stunning scenery, wildlife and experience a unique culture.
Switzerland is a great place for visitors for many reasons. For me, the ultra-efficient transport system allows accessibility to anywhere in the country. Transfers to resort are by train rather than coach as the system is so reliable and efficient. Zurich and Geneva both have train stations in there airports and English speaking assistance is always available.
I've visited Switzerland on three separate occassions - Lake Maggiore/Zermatt, Interlaken and Saas Fee. I've also visited a number of places in each region, made accessible by the trains. I'll try and give some tips about each area and the best places to go...
