Advantages incredibly unique setting of beauty.

Disadvantages the air is so thin!

i was incredibly lucky enough to go on an expedition with a company called Team Challenge to Peru. This organisation was very positive about everybody involved getting the most out of the expedition, so we were asked to do some charity work while out there. We found a remote village on an island on Lake Titicaca and were asked to build a library there for the schoolchildren and it ended up being so much more for us than them, and not in that feeling good about yourself for helping others way! We slept in the villagers huts and were the stars of the island for a week, it was an absolutely incredible experience. I am really not sure what i would have made of it if i hadn't of been with some friends and on an organised expedition but i recommend it to anyone who has the chance. It is the highest navigatable lake in the world (whatever that definition means!) and you really feel it. We were taking acclimation tablets but nothing can prepare you for having to take a break after every 10 minutes walk! (unless you had a pretty heavy friday night session with extra cigars!) But absolutely beautiful. In that typical travellers paradise way it was beath-taking, the views of the other islands, the history of the civilisations there and the locals all made it the best month of my life in Peru, and lake Titicaca was easilyt a highlight. It would be hard to imagine any activityes other than relaxing with the locas or working with them, or just walking round the islands/docks but somehow this is more than enough. It is impossible to describe on a wesbite how much it takes your breath away, but i suggest looking at a few images on google or whatever!GO THERE!!

I had the choice of going here or Arequipa when I was in Peru - I think I made the wrong call ... nice review ~ Nik
