We wanted to go away to a Holiday Park for the 1st time to see what it would be like for our children aged 5 & 2, so we booked one of "The Sun" newspaper promotional breaks opting for "The Lakeland Leisure park" nr Flookburgh in Cumbria.
We had been offered "Standard" accomodation in a caravan for 3 nights(20-23 April 2001) for £49.25 including standard power charge which we thought was very reasonable for the four of us. We also had to pay for Entertainment passes at a cost of £15.00 which allows you to use the leisure facilities and entrance to "The Showbar".
We arrived at approx 13.30pm on the 20/4/01 and had a bite to eat in the "Aqua Bar" overlooking the indoor Swiming pool. The food was very nice & reasonably priced. There is an arcade on the site with plenty of table games, slot machines and even a 10 pin bowling alley, there is also a Childrens play area inside.
Outside there is a Outdoor play area with Swimming pool nearby, you can also play tennis, bowls, basketball for a nominal fee.
At approx 15.30pm we collected our keys for our caravan, which to our delight had been upgraded to a top of the range "Gold-Olympic" caravan at no extra cost. We went to "The Showbar" at approx 6.30pm to check out the entertainment, there was Bingo,Cabaret,a disco, & Bradley Bear for the children. We were disappointed with the amount of time Bradley Bear spent on stage only approx 20-30 minutes then he left never to return.
Overnight we found our caravan very cold, despite having heaters in the bedrooms so the following day we requested extra blankets only to be told they had none left.
We decided to go swimming on the 2nd day and found it a big let down, with only approx 6 changing rooms available we ended up getting changed in a toilet!!! and the pool was freezing cold to make matters worse.
We decided to leave 24 hours before check out time, maybe if the weather had been warmer we would've stayed the 3 nights.

I went there last year with my family and it was very nice, though the entertainment room was a little on the small side. Nice op - it brought back alot of memories thanks :)
