Junction 25 off the M25 (I think?!) is Thurrock Lakeside. When I was living at home, before I was married this was my second home!
The last time ventured there was just before Christmas. I went with my husband and parked (yes parked!!!) near the entrance to House of Fraser by 9.45 just before the shops were opening and it was bliss.
Lakeside is set out on 3/4 floors. Working from the top down, the top floor is the "Food Court" which has many restaurant and burger bars (Burger King, KFC etc) with plenty of seating and plenty of variety. There is also plenty of toilets on this floor with disabled access and baby change.
The next floor down has some of the obvious big named stores here, WH Smith, Next (which incidentially has 2 floors as does many of the big named stores in here).
On the ground floor there is an annex to the back of the shopping centre which is basically an indoor market. This overlooks the "lake" and has many stalls selling things from paintings/pictures to toys.
At each end of the shopping centre (or mall) there are two of the biggest stores in England. One end is House of Fraser being on 3 floors with its various concessions and departments and at the other end is Debenhams, also on three floors.
Lakeside stands by itself smack bang in the middle of Essex. With good transport routes via car and rail its easy to get to. c2c runs to Chafford Hundred from Fenchurch Street through East London and is the stop for Lakeside where a shuttle bus takes you to the door.
Its within easy route of the A12/A13 and M25 and near the Queen Elizabeth II bridge has easy access for shoppers from Kent.
There is parking for around 2/3,000 cars (unless they'v emade more!) and the parking (on a weekend and near Christmas) gets full up very quickly.
Lakeside is like a shopping village under one roof you need a day to get round everything and its great in all weathers.
