...I live in Morecambe (as you may have guessed from one of my previous review - http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/destinations-national/ morecombe-in-general/1084120/) meaning that I am a 5 to 15 minute car / train / bus ride away from the Historical City of Lancaster. Lancaster is a loverly mixture of history, contemporary culture and vibrant city. It has plenty of heritage to entertain all ages. There is everything you could want - castles, museums, shopping, entertainment and great food!
It is perfectly located between The Lakes and Manchester, meaning you can drive to either in a day and back comfortably with plenty of time to look around without feeling rushed.
Below Are just some of my favourite places to visit in Lancaster:
Williamson Park & Butterfly House
Williamson Park, Butterfly house and Ashton Memorial is 54 acres...

Advantages: Beautiful house with gardens, Great location Disadvantages: cant think of any at the moment
...This was the house Simon Bolivar stayed in for longer than other any place in his adult age. It is where he spent the last years of his life with his mistress. If you know the story of Simon Bolivar this is a great place to visit for its historic value. The museum is inside this beautiful country house which is filled with furntiture of Bolivar's Era. It also includes Letters, documents, personal possessions maps, uniforms that have all helped to piece together events in his life.
When you walk up into the house the path, take a close look to the ground, it is made up of tiny bones ( from cattle). After you take a look around and explore the house and learn more of the history of Simon Bolivar spend time wandering the beautiful gardens -take a good few hours to see everythingthe flowers all in bloom its an amazing sight. At certain...
