Plymouth Copthore Hotel

Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: More of a Good 3* Hotel than a 4* Hotel.

I have mixed views on the Plymouth Copthorne Hotel. I have stayed here numerous times, and have experienced a variety of services from "average" to "good". Official details about the hotel (and booking rates) can be found here: http://www.benbow.org.uk/CopthornePlymouth.htm First of all, I have never had a "bad" experience in the Copthorne. There have been times where an issue arose, but this was then sorted out by the front desk staff. Saying that, the issue shouldn't have arisen in the first place. Pro's : Great Location in the center of Plymouth. If you are travelling by train, it is a 3 minute walk away from the station (or a really cheap taxi ride!). The prices - especially for weekend deals - can be competative compared to other hotels / B&B's in the area. They have parking under the hotel for hotel guests ...

A Bad Nights Sleep at Plymouth Travelodge

Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: Lumpy Beds, Noisy

A recent trip to Plymouth meant I needed to book a hotel for the night for me and my partner - but due to low funds it needed to be something cheap and cheerful. Enter the local Travelodge. I have to admit to having never stayed in a Travelodge before, but had heard that they were a cheap alternative. ~~Price~~ I have to say that I was quite shocked at how much one night would cost as I have stayed in cheaper and more luxurious places than this before. Unfortunately we couldn?t find a room anywhere else in Plymouth for that night due to various events that were taking place in the city. The Travelodge we eventually looked at didn?t have any standard double rooms available so we had to go with the family room which ended up costing us £79! I have to say these are not the type of prices I am used to hearing people quote when ...

Plymouth the city of discovery

Advantages: Full of history and discovery
Disadvantages: To drive anywhere in the city takes forever

Plymouth is a vibrant city on the very edge of Devon relying on tourism and its large naval presence. I've lived in the city for 8 years and I still get lost when I move away from the areas I know well. The sea and the view from the Hoe is Plymouth's most famous site despite having links in history to the Pilgrim Fathers, Francis Drake and his game of bowls and to Nancy Astor. I like Plymouth as a home and for the many nearby sites and walks within easy access such as Dartmoor and its many beaches that are within short drives. The city has a modern shopping centre that is extremely popular and an area known as the Barbican in the harbour area where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail, and where glass blowing was open to tourism. In the area there is also the National Marine Aquarium where there are numerous displays and one ...
