Advantages: shopping, food, travel Disadvantages: expensive hotel
...I come from Hong Kong half a year ago. Born there and live for so long time, I know the city quite well. If I were a tourist to HongKong, I must love it and found it fantastic. Let me introduce some attractive characteristics:
Like shopping? The shops and department stores in Hong Kong open 7 days a week including holiday like Christmas and Easter. Unlike here in Britain where you could hardly shop after 5pm, shops in Hong Kong close late at night, can be as late as 10-11pm. If you are not tired, you can go to the 'women street' in Mongkok, or the 'Temple Street' in Yaumatei (also near Mongkok), there are cheaps markets unitl mid-night. The later, the more people wandering around in the Mongkok area.
Food is excellent. In addition to the traditional Chinese food, you can enjoy all kinds of food in Hong Kong at a fairly cheap price...

Advantages: all you want in one place Disadvantages: the humid hot weather in crowded streets
...Well where will I start? I have travelled to quite a few places around the world, but my love for Kowloon, Hong Kong will always be the same!!
By day, it's busy with business workers, shoppers, culture and by night, it all calms down with friends, family and couples taking a strole along the Tsimshatsui Harbour soaking in the night view of HongKong.
As a tourist, if you have a thick wallet, then Kowloon has many high class hotels to choose from. Hotels which will be situated at the heart of Kowloon some of which will have breath-taking views as you look out the window.
However, those of you with a thinner wallet like myself, well don't fret, as I have stayed at the Metropole Hotel, and I managed to get a packaged holiday - this tends to let you experience the joy of living in a top class hotel without breaking your bank balance...

Advantages: So many! Disadvantages: Slightly overcrowded. People walk at sprint pace.
...I am Chinese and was born in Hong Kong and lived there since I was 5. I returned for a holiday over Christmas.
As a person who loves to buy stuff, Hong kong is a truely wonderful place because the Britsh Pound is worth so much. The McDonald's about 846154489415415416127315917 times cheaper. The food is great and i can eat almost everywhere because I can read the menus and like Chinese food. I feel that it is best to go back during Christmas as a person wis used to the British climate. The summers are near Saharan conditions. The food is excellent.
People are very friendly but not too many of them speak fluent English so communication may be a problem. However, many places have English signs so it's not a massive issue - I communicate with the locals in Cantonese.
The shopping malls, like LanghamPlace for example, is out...

One of the most annoying things about the fact that my parents left Hong Kong is that now I have nowhere to stay for free when I pop up there. Of course, there are always friends to stay with, but considering that the average HK flat is the size of an... more
