from Jill Murphy, who I would like to wish many more years of healthy living and to congratulate her on the last four years of her life. Someone close to me died from cancer and it?s the most heart-breaking thing to go through and I?m amazed at the strength some people have to carry on. My love for ChiangMai was also a reason for writing this opinion, at a time when all I wanted to do was be at home with my boyfriend, I was there, and however much I didn?t want to be there before I arrived, being there more than made up for it. The place helped me through one of the most difficult months in my life and I can?t wait to go back there. The whole atmosphere encased me and I believe that my praying did help a little ;-)

Advantages: Little pollution, friendly people, opportunities to explore the countryside Disadvantages: Not a big nightlife if you like that sort of thing, for some people a limited range of things to do.
people where ever you go. Depending on your interests, you may actually find that after a few days that you have done all you want because it is a relatively small town but don?t let that sway you. Its still well worth going no matter what interests you have.

All the usual suspect shops are now here including Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and so on. It seems the price of progress is uniformity. It has spoiled the atmosphere of the centre somewhat as it is more more ...
Advantages: Great pool and breakfast buffet Disadvantages: Expensive Italian restaurant
Highly recommend this hotel as a base in ChiangMai. It is slightly out of town but depending on your interests that can be a bonus. Certainly if you have a family and don't want to be right in the middle of the city or the Night Market it is a great choice as a cheap songthaew ride will take you there in 5 minutes.
We have stayed there a number of times and would recommend you ask for a room overlooking the pool. The pool itself is excellent and the hotel also has a tennis court if you can play in the heat! There is also a Happy Hour at the pool bar (2 drinks for the price of 1) at 4pm.
Watch out for the Italian restaurant in the hotel - the food is good but it is (by ChiangMai standards) expensive and there are so many great options elsewhere.
The rooms are comfortable rather than luxurious and we have found the staff to ...
