An awful dining experience.

Advantages: Nice building, lovely ambience.
Disadvantages: Dreadful service, badly cooked food, grumpy staff.

We were greeted by a grumpy waiter & waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. The adult's starters arrived 10 minutes apart & after the children had finished their mains. We asked 3 times before we got water glasses. One child had hotdogs which were cold and the chips were greasy & inedible. The other children had spaghetti bolognaise & squid which were fine. We ordered fillet steaks which were poorly cut, mine was undercooked & the waiter rudely ...

A Place to Avoid

Advantages: harbour view
Disadvantages: the staff

...the experience of visiting the El Cangrejo Rojo restaurant. we were both served the wrong starters, then the wrong main meals, we were regarded as trouble makers for complaining, the attitude of the manager was deplorable, furthermore when I pointed out that gents toilets were overflowing causing a hazard due to the amount of water on the marble floor, plus the foul smell, we were told not to come here again if we did not like it.! I paid the bill, ...

The ponderosa, Lanzarote. very dissappointing!

Advantages: remains fairly average in prices
Disadvantages: bland menu

we have a second home in lanzarote and have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years, however, i wont be going back again. the usually pleasant restaurant was lack lustre and empty (in two weeks we never saw more than 3 tables busy) and i understand why. the food was tough (we had fillet steak and lamb chops, the chops were frozen and charred), the orders were wrong, and the vegatables were canned! it was very diappointing all round. the restaurant ...
...of the main courses, but this was all arranged by the lovely waitress who tried to help and was as polite and friendly throughout. The owner, the same for as long as i can remember, just remained sitting on the table at the back reading a magazine, never offered a word. we did try a second time to get one of their 'famous ponderosa spit chickens' one night, but again, we found no spit, instead pain 8 euros for a dry, roasted chicken that was so ...

portobello, the most amazing food I have ever eaten!

Advantages: excellant food and friendly staff, very central.
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive.(but you get what you pay for!)

We stayed in Costa teguise in lanzarote for two weeks in july and really enjoy eating out,we only found portobello the second last night before we were due to go home. I was disappointed by this but maybe it was a good thing as i think we would have eaten there every night!!! The service was fantastic and the staff are very friendly, the food is amazing. it is a little more exoensive than other resturants, but you get what you pay for. They have a ...

Italian Delights

Advantages: Good food at a good price
Disadvantages: No view

This is a lovely little restaurant in the old town of Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote (on the road that runs up the side of the Biosphera shopping centre). It is the sister restuarant to El Tomate but has a more casual and relaxed atmosphere as well as a menu suitable for more basic or plain palates (El Tomate is more meats in sauces whereas this is pizza and pasta focused). Both the pasta dishes and the pizzas are very appertising and the staff are ...
