We paid Ģ737 each for two adults plus Ģ367 for one child for 11 nights HB at the end of April , 2001. We travelled with Airtours and booked through a local high street travel agent.
Flight and Transfer Our first trip to Lanzarote, in fact our first trip to the Canaries. It’s four hour flight, we had an hour’s delay at Gatwick but apart from that the journey was fine. Usual delay getting on the bus after arriving at Arrecife but we arrived at the hotel within an hour or so. Lanzarote is not pretty in the conventional sense. The landscape you would see from the bus looked something like a cross between a moonscape and a building site. Water must be at a premium because “lush” is not a word you will be needing. The odd cactus is about much greenery as the island can muster.
Hotel The Lanzarote Princess is a modern five star hotel. You get everything you would expect of a hotel of this calibre. Our room was large, we were on the ground floor and had use of a patio. Everything worked including the a/c which is a must this time of year.
Meals The food was really good. Buffet meals , huge choice and good quality. Staff were very child friendly. One of the waiters lead my daughter to her table each evening and she felt very grown up about it all.
The hotel has a couple of pools, one of them heated. At the time of year even the heated one was a bit nippy for me.
Beach The nearest beach is a short walk from the hotel. Most of the beaches in the Canaries are black sand, not so here. The beach is artificial, not obviously so but someone told me that the reason why the sand is golden is that they imported it from the Sahara. ! Sounds a bit far fetched but apparently its true.
Entertainment The mini disco was popular with my three year old. Given her father’s prowess on the disco floor I was stunned that my progeny has turned out to be a disco diva. Whatever next. It was bed early most nights so we didn’t see much of the entertainment, what we did see though (German couple bashing out popular songs) was pretty good.
Tips You can get sun burnt even though it’s cloudy. I didn’t believe this, didn’t bother with sun cream on the first day and sported a brilliant shade of scarlet for the next couple of days
Trips We planned to rent a car but left our licences at home. You can still rent a car – they just take you passport details, but we didn’t think this was a good idea. In the end we took the bus to Puerto Del Carmen (aka Blackpool) , also to Yaiza which had a few interesting buildings but not much else. We took a boat rip to Papagayo Beach which was well worth the it. (If you have to buy food or drink there supply is limited and expensive).
Resort Playa Blanca, by Lanzarotean standards is quite and attractive little town, with the beach, harbour and ferry going to and from Fuerteventura. If you want to know more about Playa Blanca check out the excellent “Eric Grays – Lanzarote World” http://www.graysworld.co.uk/index.html
In short It was cold and miserable in England in April ,and here we were in shirts and shorts, enjoying the beach and warm weather. Perfect. The hotel was excellent and Playa Blanca is probably Lanzarote at its best.

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: Good legroom, Surprisingly good inflight meals, wide selection of entertainment, friendly crew Disadvantages: As flying in Premium I went into Economy and it looked cramped, although I can not properly say!!!
